25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

I'm sad to hear that. It's nothing I've ever had. I think you should ask that question in a thread of its own. I think the chances are higher to get a good reply there. I hope it recedes soon!

3-Month Tinnitus Anniversary After a Loud Concert

I'm sorry. I misread or answered the wrong post because I thought the OP had had it a year ago. At any rate, I think the most important part of improvement, habituation or actual, is not focusing on it. The sooner you let go of the worry, the sooner you improve. That said, we all have...

OK, thanks. That's not what the article I found and read said, but it's good.

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Like I said before, I haven't read about tinnitus research in the last few years. After 25 years with almost no progress and still not knowing the exact cause of tinnitus, I have no hope of a cure. If you feel different, good for you, but I've been around this shit for so long that I've given...

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Experience. ;) A good start would be to be certain what causes tinnitus. Is it the brain or the ears? Devices to help cope aren't a cure.

3-Month Tinnitus Anniversary After a Loud Concert

Hope is good, but after this many months, it most likely won't improve. What will improve, though, is your ability to handle it. You and your brain will get used to it and think about it less and less, and eventually, you'll live just as if it's not there. To protect your ears in the future...

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Yes, failure is inevitable along the way and a part of serious research. That, however, doesn't change my belief that a cure won't be available in my lifetime.

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

I must confess that I've not followed the research very much over the last five or so years, so I can't comment on the specific research projects. However, developing cures is a very slow process, and there's been no sign of any significant progress in the last 25 years since my tinnitus started...

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

It's still noisier in my left ear, but I only react negatively to it at night when trying to (go back to) sleep. I can't say whether this is mental or an actual increase.

For me, it's the opposite, especially when no other activity has caught my attention.

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

I'm sorry for you, and I hope you feel better soon. I've completely given up on there ever being a cure in my lifetime. I just hope that everyone suffering finds a way to cope and habituate to the sound.

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Hi @tomytl, I hope you recover once more and that you stay away from concerts in the future. Like I said, I'd promised myself that but have broken it twice. Now, it won't happen again because the risk and the anxiety aren't worth it. I also feel a sensation in my left ear (as I have every time...

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Last month, it was 25 years ago since my tinnitus started for real (not counting the very mild version three years before that). That also means it's been part of me for almost half my life. (I'm 51 in August). The first months 25 years ago (after the first week of ignorance) were hell, but...

    Saffron Cure for Tinnitus?

Oh, ffs. Of course it doesn't work. Sorry if I'm blunt, but no natural stuff works. Especially not if it's tinnitus caused by noise or loud music.

Is Going to a Beyonce Concert with Tinnitus Safe or Stupid?

I've decided to never go to a concert again. I made that decision a long time ago, but made ONE exception when I attended Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in London in 2017. It went fine, but I got that typical spike afterwards (most likely caused by worrying about my tinnitus having worsened.)...

Onset of Tinnitus After Using Noise Cancelling Headphones

I use Sony WH1000XM3 and I have no increase in my tinnitus. However, if you use them or any other NC headphones believing they are protection it's no surprise your tinnitus increases. They're headphones, not ear protection.

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

I haven't read the entire thread (hardly anything, actually), but if you don't suffer from loss of hearing but just have tinnitus caused by loud noise/music, will this help, should it work? I doubt very much that my tinnitus will be cured before I die in hopefully around 50 years, but if I'm...

Noise Induced Hissing (Acoustic Trauma from a Wedding)

No. The last time was at a party with a DJ. The volume was apparently louder than most places. Also, on another occasion I was at a hockey game with my lower filters in my earplugs, and there was a fire alarm...

I don't know for sure. As far as I know you can get it from short as long as prolonged exposure to noise.
  25. Sven

Onset of Tinnitus After Using Noise Cancelling Headphones

@Lumi Not necessarily. Normal volume over time in headphones can still be the cause. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I still don't understand how sounds we can't hear can cause tinnitus.

Why Is Tinnitus Not More Common? Loud Bars, Concerts, Restaurants...

That's so sad. We're so different also, all of us. Some of us have "glass ears" that break and get worse easily, it seems, while others seem to have ears that don't get affected at all. Add to that our different ability to cope. I'm sure there are people with worse ringing than I have that...

@Autumnly I don't know which kind, but my figure was from "internetmedicin" https://www.internetmedicin.se/page.aspx?id=3167, which is a site for doctors and nurses in the Sweden.

Noise Induced Hissing (Acoustic Trauma from a Wedding)

Most of us have been where you are and even though I don't know how bad yours is, most of us do adapt and habituate somehow. For me, there has never been one solution to adapt, but time just makes it happen. I still hate it a lot and especially during periods with "spikes" or when it's become...

Onset of Tinnitus After Using Noise Cancelling Headphones

@mark998 I thought the same when I read this thread. I've had mine for a little more than a week and I've used them for a total of maybe 2 hours at work, which is a lot more than I normally use headphones. Anyway, I hear my tinnitus much more clearly since they're very quiet and I haven't heard...

Onset of Tinnitus After Using Noise Cancelling Headphones

If we return to the subject of NC headphones. What is it you think cause tinnitus? Is it the "anti-sound" that you mean cause this, because besides that they don't differ from other headphones in any way, do they? Also, if we can't hear the "anti-sound", how can it affect our tinntus? (Side...

Music Induced Tinnitus: What Band Gave or Worsened Your Tinnitus?

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. "Stockholms Stadion", June, 1999 was the concert that started it for real. Three hours without earplugs. In retrospect the stupidity was incredible. ...especially since I had a two day ringing in my ears after a Van Halen concert in 1993.

I use headphones - though rarely - as well, and recently bought noise cancelling ones just to be able to listen to music or whatever without having to play it loud.

Insult you? No. I thought you were speaking in general terms. But yes, if you do suffer from tinnitus caused by noise or loud music and then choose to turn up volume in your headphones I still think it's not bright and even stupid. Like trying to extinguish a fire with gasoline. (You used the...

Onset of Tinnitus After Using Noise Cancelling Headphones

Isn't it quite likely that it's the quiet that triggers the idea of worse (or existing) tinnitus? I don't see how NC headphones could cause new tinnitus by themselves. They Can’t Even Cure Baldness Yet

I agree. However, there's probably just one or two reasons for baldness, but there are several different kinds of tinnitus. I for one think that I'll die of old age before there's a cure for my type of tinnitus. However, just something lowering it would be nice. P.S. I don't want my hair...

Recommendations for Good Over-Ear Tinnitus Friendly Headphones?

Recommendations for Good Over-Ear Tinnitus Friendly Headphones?

That's why I want over-ear, preferably noise cancelling so that I can hear well without it being too loud. Recommendations for Good Over-Ear Tinnitus Friendly Headphones?

I rarely use headphones, except sometimes at work or when traveling. (Music and streaming video). I've used a pair of studio phones (Sennheisser 380 HD Pro) the last few years, but even though they're supposedly very good as studio headphones they have a flat sound without much bass. (Hardly...

    Jogging with Tinnitus

I have tt from loud music and for me running is absolutely harmless. I never run with headphones or anything, though. I can't see any reason why tinnitus from noise should be worsened or spike from physical activity.

OK, no problem. I don't mean to sound negative and I understand that there's a lot more research now than 20 years ago, but I just don't expect to ever be cured. I'd be happy if I were proven wrong, though. :)

    Trouble Sleeping Because of Tinnitus
