Habituation Is Real → My Best Advice to New Tinnitus Sufferers

Thanks. Yes, it has been tough, but mainly because I was in an anxious state of mind. I'm glad it helps you. Believe me, once you start to relax, anxiety will diminish and step by step you'll feel much better. Sound therapy, helps a lot. Best regards.

Habituation Is Real → My Best Advice to New Tinnitus Sufferers

It really does get better. I'm from northern Spain, so I’m a pretty skeptical person. In the beginning my suffering was huge, unbelievably huge. But now in my 10th or 11th month with tinnitus, I can say that I’m almost totally habituated. What does that mean? I almost don’t notice it, despite...

Am I the Only One Who Feels Like We Are Approaching Tinnitus Research Completely Wrong?

I read your previous posts. You had a 0.1 tinnitus, which you described as unnoticeable. That is not something you habituate to, that is such a low tinnitus that it was not bothersome at all. Habituation to very bothersome tinnitus takes time, even more than a year and a half.

Am I the Only One Who Feels Like We Are Approaching Tinnitus Research Completely Wrong?

That is not true. Maybe TRT does not work for you, but that is only your case... I have several friends and colleagues with tinnitus and all of them have habituated. I tell you something, the only treatment for tinnitus is psychological. We will never have a cure.

Be Honest. Do You Still Enjoy Life?

Indeed. I enjoy life very much. After almost five months I only have a few issues to improve. In the beginning, I felt terrible and thought that it was the end of my life. Some commentaries that I read here at the beginning were not helpful. Thank God I know personally people with tinnitus that...

Thanks, Joe! I'm glad that you are feeling better. I think that there is not only one approach. The important thing is to make progress even if it takes a little longer. My tinnitus seems louder than in the beginning, but somehow my brain seems to focus less on it. I followed some of the pieces...

I'm Javier from Spain, Got Tinnitus Recently, No Hearing Loss, Not Sure What Triggered Mine

Update after 4 months. I started my journey with tinnitus 4 months ago. For the first two months, I was very irked, crying every single day and hoping for a miracle. Well, I’m not cured, but I feel more and more comfortable every day. I can stand silent environments and develop my job as a...

I Experience Louder Tinnitus When Pressing Mastoid Bone Behind the Ear?

Me too. I read months ago that 65 % of tinnitus cases are somatic. Even acoustic trauma induced tinnitus is in a lot of cases somatic. My advice, and this helped me so much, is not to focus too much on your tinnitus. It is good to know what intensifies it, but once determined, the best strategy...

I'm not totally habituated yet, but my ringing does not normally irk me. Now the only important issue left to recover completely my previous life is to be able to enjoy reading at night. I read every night and T does not bother me to understand what I'm reading, but I find my self quite a lot...

This is great, Walker123. It is what my friends with tinnitus say. They do not notice tinnitus if they don't focus on it, despite that they can hear it almost everywhere. Tinnitus for Almost Three Months Now After an Acoustic Trauma (Headphones on a Film Set)

Yes, at this moment I would classify it as low. It seems that is getting lower and lower every week. Today, I can hear it, but it's not annoying at all because seems very weak. Sometimes is like the tinnitus is dying. I thank you with all my heart for your suggestions. I will read your...

Tinnitus for Almost Three Months Now After an Acoustic Trauma (Headphones on a Film Set)

Thanks, @Michael Leigh. Before having tinnitus, I used headphones for listening to podcasts, though not too much (twice a week, like half an hour) and very rarely, for listening to music. So, this could be the cause. Concerts, gigs, pubs, clubs, etc are not a possible cause of noise induced...

Hi, Ken. Thanks for your comment. I think that new people coming here need some positivity - though not toxic positivity. Thanks for the comment, Albapv! Yes, I was through an intense period of stress. But I prefer don't think too much about the causes, as even the doctors can not tell what caused it. I've thought too much about it already and it is not going to heal me. Now I'm just trying to move on. I know...
