I just realized that pushing on my temporal bone doesnt reduce the intensity but when I release my fingers it spikes suddenly so I was a bit fooled there. Mine seems to only spike with head and jaw movements. I was seeing a normal chiropractor but I will stop as they seem to not be doing...
