Thanks. I was going to ask for clarification regarding pain/discomfort hyperacusis. Being in the same boat as yourself in that regard I am just hoping that the pain/discomfort I experience from those sounds don’t then branch out to other sounds as well.

Light switches and plates/cutlery bothered mine before but no longer for some reason. Hopefully you will improve somewhat too. I’ve been putting sound on in the background to minimise the amount of quiet time. Or at least try to strike a good balance between the two.

Can you listen to music through a higher fidelity/better quality speaker? Tinny speakers bother mine. A bigger speaker might be better for you. Is your tv speaker ok for it?

I would say I have ‘irritation’ hyperacusis then. It’s only certain artificial sounds like a laptop or mobile phone speaker that bother my ears now. I worry that it will get worse, but it has already got better as plates and cutlery used to bother it, but now they don’t.

How dangerous are high frequencies in music if the volume is low (50-60dB)? I’ve seen some people mention it’s not always the loudness but sometime the frequencies that can affect tinnitus. My tinnitus raises just a little following listening to music. Not a lot and it is not distressing. But...
