Could My Tinnitus Be Caused or Exacerbated by the Christmas Tree?

I mean, yeah, you're likely right. I would love to find out that my tinnitus is just the result of allergies, and that I've been overreacting to it. I'm sure everyone here gladly would. Just some wishful thinking. To be honest, it's upsetting to have a health issue crop up, search for...

Could My Tinnitus Be Caused or Exacerbated by the Christmas Tree?

I have noticed a pattern to my tinnitus: typically better during the day, worse in the evening, and mildly better at night. It's also typically been bad on Saturdays. As I mentioned in a previous post, my tinnitus started in November. This has led some of my family members to suspect that the...

Remeron Helped Decrease Tinnitus... And Then It Stopped

Yes definitely didn't mean to imply there wouldn't be immediate side effects. As you say, the sustained impact takes a while. I would guess that the impact on sleep would be immediate. I'm on this forum thanks to a grand total of 225mg of Zoloft, so my empathy to anyone who experiences...

Remeron Helped Decrease Tinnitus... And Then It Stopped

This is not accurate. It takes several weeks for Remeron to have an impact on mood, like most antidepressants.

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Yikes. You have made the Cain and Abel subtext of our dialogue suddenly, very literal. I hope you find peace in your life.

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

That's interesting, how so? I find the questions get at exactly what I want to change about my experience of tinnitus. I don't want tinnitus to put me in a place of existential despair. Unfortunately, I can't access CBT right now. I can't find a practitioner who has office hours outside of my...

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Yes. It seems to me a good measure of what CBT seeks to reduce (i.e. how obtrusive your experience of tinnitus is).

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

I'm going to admit that I haven't delved into the research on tinnitus the way others here have. But I do have a research background. Isn't the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory a measure of how debilitating a person's symptoms are? It seems like an easy thing to study, whether CBT lowers...

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Do you have a source for this claim? I wouldn't know how to operationalize "negligible," but surely it would be less than 10%? That doesn't seem to match even the experience of this forum, and my sense is that those for whom cbt does not work are overrepresented here.

Why Is There Such a Stigma About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

I think it may be oversimplified honestly. In my view, there is an order of preferences: 1. To not have tinnitus 2. To have tinnitus but not let it distract you from everyday life 3. To have tinnitus and obsess over it to you and your family's detriment I think the point of therapy is to move...

Office and Earplugs — Too Much?

Congratulations on your new job! I'm a cubicle dweller myself. In general I work for a quiet team. Probably at 50-60 decibels. No need for earplugs. And I find the combination of computer noise, the copier, and the HVAC system to be fairly masking. It's the easiest part of my day as far as T is...

Bringing Up Children Whilst Having Tinnitus

@all to gain I found this post after searching for threads having to do with parenthood. I hope with time you have found happiness with your sons. I find I'm putting on a performance for my daughter some days, hiding my pain. However, I am hopeful (and my wife reassures me) that I can still be a...

    Tinnitus Induced by Sertraline (Zoloft)

Thank you @Lane. I read through the posts you shared and did some more research on Remeron/Mirtazapine. I had hope because it's not an SSRI. But in many prior threads, people seemed to have a ton of trouble with it when they tapered off the med. Reflecting on that, the last thing I want is to be...

    Tinnitus Induced by Sertraline (Zoloft)

Hi everyone! 36 year old husband and father of one here. I'm hoping for some words of encouragement. I started taking Sertraline (Zoloft) to treat work-related anxiety a month ago. Within a few days I noticed a ringing in my right ear. As I get occasional ringing, I didn't think too much of it...
