Impact of Acoustic Trauma (Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning) After Drug (Finasteride) Induced Tinnitus

I can only understand what you're going through :/ I don't know if you saw my thread here. I was doing pretty well and I foolishly harmed my ear 10 days ago: it caused sound distortion, pain, and increased tinnitus. Thankfully I don't really have pain anymore and today the distortion is nearly...

Impact of Acoustic Trauma (Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning) After Drug (Finasteride) Induced Tinnitus

@K.A., tbh this is deductive thinking. Since we have little data, we can only guess for now so I probably shouldn't have bring that up on this thread anyway. PFS can mimic a lot of different medical conditions and it affects everyone differently.

Well for months I kept the gains for whatever reason. After 10 months I can see my old hairline again. But honestly I’m fine with it since it probably mean that I’m healing. I didn’t have tinnitus before the drug gave me ETD, but I know people that had tinnitus before taking fin and it t made it...

Well at first the drug did wonders, I almost regained my old hairline, got a better density and quality of hair etc. Then I had mild sexual sides so I decided to take a pause from it. Then from there I developed a lot of sides in the next weeks/months. I was just taking 0.5 mg and in the end...

I would say that you there is a low probability of getting such sides but I still wouldn't take the risks. I thought that it would never happened to me and it did ! And the fact that you have H and T is another weight in the balance.

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

That's weird, this night I woke up with a static sound in the "injured" ear, I did a 15 minutes Red Light therapy just in case and when I woke up again it was gone. I suspect that it was because I was leaning on the wrong side and putting pressure on my eardrum, supposing that it is an eardrum...

Impact of Acoustic Trauma (Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning) After Drug (Finasteride) Induced Tinnitus

In theory Finasteride could indirectly cause ear damage from oxidative stress and the many things (god knows what) it can mess with in the body. However, I think that for a majority of people it’s either through the neuromodulating effect this drug have or by causing TMJ, ETD etc. Like for you...

Impact of Acoustic Trauma (Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning) After Drug (Finasteride) Induced Tinnitus

Hi Outlaw! How we meet again. Our stories just keep being oddly similar, I just physically harmed my ear last week and created an annoying new sound that I hope will go away. Honestly if your tinnitus and hyperacusis are from ETD, like me, it probably will go away once you recover, really. I...

If you have tinnitus this is a big NO. You are at a greater risk of worsening it since it has been shown that the drug can modulate the gaba system and cause or worsen tinnitus. I know PFS guys that developed and kept tinnitus even after they recovered from PFS. Now it's your call but at least...

However I'm 80% recovered and I think it can be reversed, but I also know people that had struggle with it since many years. Honestly, don't take it. I had some people telling me to not take it, and I didn't listened.

Hi! I have (had) full blown Post Finasteride Syndrome since 10 months. Basically debilitating physical, neurological, gastroinstestinal and sexual sides; massive anxiety and an endless list of symptoms including ETD. It was a living nightmare basically.

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

Okay... I was just standing in front of my PC 2 hours ago when the new tinnitus changed - or added - some sort of a cricket sound. I'm going to the hospital tomorrow just in case. Pain has subsided a bit today but I feel like something is wrong.

Scarring on the Eardrum — Does Anyone Have This?

How could ETD and TMJ cause scarring? Thanks.

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

Hi, so here's an update. It's probably not TMJ after all. I tried to equalize my ear by pinching my nose and swallowing and my ear felt full instantly, hearing became muffled and the pain reoccured a bit. I'm so scared now... I saw that barotrauma can show no tympanic signs so it may explain...

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

Thanks again all for your words. They eased my anxiety. I may be onto something. If I recall right, this new tinnitus started right after I yawned. My TMJ issues flared up lately, it may be due to the fact that I am sleeping on the back for a surgery I went under 2 weeks ago. My teeth show...

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

Hi, thanks everyone for the help. The ENT told me my eardrums are absolutely fine (no fluid, no inflammation, no tears). He even showed it to me in real time. My audiometry is pretty much the same, so no hearing loss in the frequencies tested. Tympanometry is normal. The pain and tinnitus are...

Dumb Incident: Self-Caused Barotrauma While Taking My Hand Off My Ear

Hi everyone, new member here! I’m seeing an ENT tomorrow but would like some insight since I’m pretty worried. So briefly, I have had ETD+TMJ for a few months after getting Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS). It is already causing me tinnitus (medium multi-tonal to faint hissing), pulsatile...
