I had an acoustic trauma very similar to a syringing/microsuction sort of thing. Tinnitus is in both ears but my left ear is by far worse off but same as you the dips come up on both ears almost equally. Very strange. I have pretty bad hearing distortion which I assume is due to this specific dip.

Next time let the ENT use a manual tool to remove the ear wax. I cannot believe ENTs still use water syringing and microsuction for this where a 5 minute Google search shows these techniques are dangerous for the ear. Also don't let the ENT perform the tympanometry test on you. Probably now...

Never ever do micro suction or ear syringing (ear irrigation). I did the same thing as you did (ear irrigation) and a 100db ear test for 2 minutes which left me with moderate hearing loss. Did you do an audiogram??

Ear syringing can cause tinnitus and also hyperacusis. My two colleagues developed tinnitus after ear syringing. In my opinion, it is much safer if high quality olive oil is used for ear wax removal.

I would say that acoustic trauma is damage to the ear caused by noise, so it is a different category.

microsuction and syringing can both undoubtedly aggravate or cause tinnitus so he is right to post his story as a warning for others though I agree this is likely to be a rarer side effect and must people getting it done should be ok

@Michael Leigh Hard to know. I think mine is a combination of self-syringing followed by a loud headphone use at the gym. So, likely acoustic shock of some kind. However, my hearing is perfect. Not sure what that says about my situation.

You might be offered microsuction or syringing. You can use those keywords to search this forum, to see that those procedures have the potential to cause permanent tinnitus spikes (louder and more intrusive tinnitus). It is a good idea to insist that manual tools be used.
