The Sound of TMJ Related Tinnitus?

In one ear it sounds like wind chimes or putting your ear up to a shell. But in the other it sounds like a car's break squealing mixed with static.

    The Current Year Is 2018

I agree that the lack of treatments for tinnitus is a shame. I hate seeing the post of a desperate person whose life is being completely ravaged by tinnitus and there is nothing I can say to console them other than the standard "there is no cure so you will have to get used to it".

If I Can Turn Ringing Noise On/Off at Will, Is This Still Considered Tinnitus?

Yes that is tinnitus. What you have is similar to longterm tinnitus sufferers not hearing their tinnitus unless they think about it.

    Is My Tinnitus Still Temporary?

Tinnitus is considered chronic after 6 months. You should protect your ears from loud noises to increase the chances of your tinnitus fading or going away completely. Avoid noisy spaces and wear earplugs in potentially noisy places such as school.

    Personality Traits of Tinnitus Sufferers

I took a personality test at an actual psychologist's office. It was so awful lol. It said I was very sociable and gregarious and would market my appeal by being friendly, entertaining, and seductive. It also said I was dependent on other people, insecure, and would latch myself onto people so...

Maybe he told you it was mild because he did not want to freak you out? I think T that is 65 decibels is pretty rare since 65 decibels is about as loud as a voice.

    Are In-Ear Maskers Safe?

Oh ok. I wish I was like that. I personally do not find any color of noise from a white (or whatever color) noise machine. I do not mind the sound of fans or air conditioning though for some reason. I am just really annoyed by the thought of listening to something all day. The most tolerable...

Poll: How Often Do You Hear Your Tinnitus in Your Dreams?

Can Tinnitus Be Cured? What Is Going to End Up Being the Cure?

Treatment for any disease usually begins with something that reduces it. Finding something that reduces tinnitus is a big deal because there has never been a treatment aimed at reducing/eliminating tinnitus before. It has all just been coping strategies.

Anybody Successfully Dated with Moderate/Severe Tinnitus?

I would recommend trying ear plugs. I use 16 decibel ear plugs and I have little to no problem understanding people, even in moderately noisy places. Maybe you could look into treatments for hyperacusis? Have you tried that? I hope they have something for it.
