Poll: After Getting Tinnitus, Do You Still Use Headphones/Headsets?

I should have specified: within reason. I still protect my hearing and I use headphones at low level. What I meant is that I try not to let my T control my life. Again, as much as possible

Hey, np! Exclusively airplane with noise and pressure regulation. However, noise cancelling headphones plus nasal spray seem to work slightly better for me. Or maybe it’s because I can listen to some music All the best

Poll: Was Your Tinnitus Onset Sudden or Gradual?

I just woke up one day with intrusive T. Went to the doctor who pointed out that I had severe wax buildup. Removed the wax, but T hasn’t stopped. This was a year ago. I also have moderate hearing loss to high frequencies probably due to prolonged sound deprivation

Noise-Induced Tinnitus and Flights, Tips for Flying?

If it can help, I fly frequently and I have used noise reducing plugs, noise cancelling headphones and nasal decongestant spray. Never had any issues with T and flying. As long as I tackle both change of pressure (spray or plugs) and background noise (plugs or headphones) my T does not change.

Poll: After Getting Tinnitus, Do You Still Use Headphones/Headsets?

I used to avoid them but now I use them almost every day for hours. Curiously, my T got better since I decided not to give a f**k about it and got back to enjoying music a few months ago. However, I always enhance the frequencies I struggle to hear so the overall volume level is fairly low...

Poll: Was the Advice You Got on Tinnitus Talk More Useful Than Your ENT's Advice?

Considering that my ENT did not provide me with any advice whatsoever, then I would say this forum has been immensely more useful than the doctor in the last year. I still remember when the ENT called me and said: "Great news, your MRI has turned completely clear. There is no physical problem...

    Avoid Silence or Seek Silence?

Interestingly I was asking myself the same question and stumbled upon your post. My T seems to be intensified by travelling. Car/Train/Airplane they all have a similar low-frequency noise which spikes my high-pitched T. Listening to white Noise, equalized music or ACRN around my T frequencies...

Is This a Good Sign After 2.5 Months? I Now Have More Good Days, Fewer Spikes, More Energy

Anxiety and panic are a normal evolutionary reaction to something that your brain perceives as a threat. Once T is not considered a threat anymore then habituation will begin, in my experience. It's ok to feel that way. If I can suggest: do not attempt to block a panic reaction. Accept it for...

Playing Around with an Equalizer (Music Sounds Great, Sometimes Tinnitus Is Quieter)

Thanks for your answers. To me it makes sense as my T is a hiss starting at 7/8 Khz and my hearing at frequencies higher than those is nearly non existent. I was wondering what your experience is like as I noticed that for some people the opposite works: filtering out sounds on the same...

Nodding and Sleep Turn My Tinnitus On and Off

That's fascinating. In my case it is always louder in the middle of the night or when I wake up in the morning.

Playing Around with an Equalizer (Music Sounds Great, Sometimes Tinnitus Is Quieter)

Hello everybody. As this week is my tinnitus' first anniversary :rockingbanana:, I finally thought I might write my first post. My tinnitus seems to be dependent on medium hearing loss to high frequencies. I have obviously tried the usual supplements and vitamins, plus I am going through a...
