    Feeling Alone on My Birthday

Hi butterfly75, I have severe tinnitus and hyperacusis. I still live my life as much as possible. Few months ago, I saw a blind college student walking around the campus. He talked to people and smiled all the time. I know his condition is different from the tinnitus suffers but his life is not...

I Can't Take This High-Pitched Ringing Anymore — I Would Rather Be Dead

I've gained more understanding about suffering by reading books about it. Then, I learn how to meditate and try to let go. There are still pain and severe tinnitus but I accept my current reality. Meanwhile, I still do whatever it takes to recover.

I Can't Take This High-Pitched Ringing Anymore — I Would Rather Be Dead

Hi Bob, I understand your pain and suffering. Both of my parents died from horrible illnesses. I had severe depression because of that. I recovered from the depression after many years. Then my neck injury from last year caused me to have severe T&H and other symptoms. Maybe your tinnitus will...

    Meditation and Biofeedback

There are many types of meditations that you can try. The breath focus one is the simplest one. Basically, you sit straight, inhale and exhale slowly and naturally. Try to focus on your breath. Your thoughts will come up. Don't judge your thoughts. Just let it pass and bring yourself back to the...

I have been having severe tinnitus & hyperacusis for 9 months. My quality of life has been significantly affected. Doctors told me that there is no cure and you have to live with it. Most of the doctors have no idea about how much the patient suffer. One doctor even made a joke about how my...

What's the Point? No Matter What I Try to Do, I Will FOREVER Have My Tinnitus and Hyperacusis...

I have severe T & H. I "choose" to suffer less. I have been doing meditation and biofeedback. Those two can be totally free. Both so-called treatments have positive influence on the autonomic nervous system. It will take a lot of time and effort to see the results. This is a reminder that "Pain...

What Can I Do When Even Masking Doesn't Seem to Work?

So don't mask it and learn how to sleep without masking the tinnitus. I know it's hard to accept but every long-term tinnitus sufferer learns how to do it eventually.

Craniosacral Therapy (Julian Cowan Hill, etc.)

The tinnitus therapist, Julian Cowan Hill on YouTube always recommends Cranial Sacral Therapy or other body-based therapies . After six months onset of my tinnitus and there is very little or no improvement, I have to give it a try. I'm just sharing my experience. I'm not promoting this...

Pulsatile Tinnitus: What Should I Expect at My ENT?

I went to House Clinic in LA. The ENT took a look at my ears and recommended me to take the SSRI drug. It took 2 hours to drive there and I spent $200 for the consult. That was my experience. I hope your ENT is different.

Talked to a Psychologist Who Has Tinnitus

Michael, it is not a treatment. It's just a mental health evaluation. So that, I can see a psychiatrist. She did not sell me anything. The only harm she can make is to mess up with my evaluation.

Talked to a Psychologist Who Has Tinnitus

I need to see a psychiatrist for medication. Before that, I needed to be evaluated by a psychologist/MFT. Today, I talked to a psychologist who happened to have the severe reactive tinnitus similar to my tinnitus except that she doesn't have hyperacusis but she has a profound hearing loss in one...

Thanks for your inputs. Did you have jaw pain? I didn't have jaw pain and my dentist ruled out TMJ. But my chiropractor found that my jaw was kind of locked.

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

This thread is way long. I only read the first page and the last page. I looked at PubMed, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25779225 This drug is similar to Gabapentin. One of the side effects is also the visual problem. I don't have good reaction with Gabapentin. I don't think I'm a good...

My ENT Visit. Time to Vent.

Let me know how it goes. I did not have neck pain initially. So that, it took me a long time to figure it out.

My ENT Visit. Time to Vent.

You can do both. You cannot tell your GP that you want an Xray or MRI on your neck because you have tinnitus. But if you feel neck pain, then you can. For chiropractic treatment, look for upper cervical specialist such as NUCCA/Blair.

My ENT Visit. Time to Vent.

Ronnie, if you had a concussion, you should check your neck. I thought I only had a concussion last Sept but actually I had a whiplash also.

The doctors that I talked were also lack of compassion. It's because they have no idea what you are suffering.

Is TRT (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy) Useful for Desensitizing Reactive Tinnitus?

I have the reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis. My tinnitus has started due to the head and neck trauma. It's so reactive to the point that even the softest pink noise spikes my tinnitus. I have tried to listen to the pink noise for my hyperacusis. But after 30 minutes of pink noise, I feel...

    Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

I looked at the TRT thread. It's possible that the clinicians claims to provide the TRT but they don't have much knowledge in treating T & H. The TRT is an expensive treatment. How do I find out whether the clinicians have the experience? Does anyone know any good TRT practitioner in San Diego...

Hyperacusis and Tinnitus Due to Head/Neck Trauma?

Thanks for the suggestion but the dentist told me that I don't have a TMJ. I'm having the NUCCA chiropractic treatment. If it is musculoskeletal-related, I think it is also possible to be related to the SCM muscle.

How Do Benzos Help Tinnitus? And Are They Ototoxic?

1mg valium is the lowest dose in benzo. No, benzo does not improve your tinnitus but it will calm you down and sedate you. So that, you feel more indifferent. But it's very additive and the withdrawal symptoms can last for weeks, months or years. I highly recommend you to find a different...

I have my hyperacusis and tinnitus due to the head trauma. The T was very loud and extremely high pitch that I could not even find it in the tinnitus frequency matching apps.
