Well i'm my own study of 1, i had moderate T in 1 ear and mild T in the other and habituated to it, i now have severe super high pitched T in both ears and head and can't make any inroads toward habituation, for me there's a massive diference.

Definitely, my T was about 6.5Khz but has now changed to 10.5Khz and the higher pitch is much harder to cope with, also have multiple tones now, my volume has also doubled or tripled and that is also very hard to cope with.

No neck pain, there is some ear pain but that is not dependant on which side has the loudest T. The T never switches as in one side nothing and the other side loud, it is more of a case of taking it in turns in being the louder ear.

Probably, i also know of people who have a greatly reduced level of T when wearing h-aids, i think you need to have T in the frequency bandwidth of the aids for them to help though.

Don't do things for other people to get thankyou's, do them because it makes you feel good, that way you wont be dissapointed.
