I can only speak to my experience. I smoked high CBD/low THC strain. I didn't get spikes BUT since I quit smoking weed, daily spikes. Being high on high THC strain makes me more aware of tinnitus. Doesn't seem to affect it directly. I'd say your post is pretty close.
