    Quiet Amongst the Noise

I can basically 100% relate to this. I've had T for about 15 months and I have good days and bad days. Some good days I barely notice it and some good days it's there but I don't care. Some bad days, like today, it's in my face the second I wake up and I'm stressed all day. Strangely I can...

    Getting Married with Tinnitus?!

@Honey_Bee congrats on the upcoming wedding! I always love your posts. So positive and funny! Tinnitus really is the strangest thing. I'm basically at the one year mark. I have good days and bad days. I have good and bad in the same day! Like yesterday, woke up, it was there but seemed a little...

    Been Through the Worst

For sure. And I'm relatively sure I'll get there too. I think the frustrating part is the unpredictability of it. Like feeling good for a few days and then feeling like crap again. It's a grind. For me when I feel like crap for a few days is when all the negative bs flows in again. Then I wake...

    Been Through the Worst

Glad to hear it John! I went to the Dave Matthews concert last week and though I fidgeted with my earplugs half of the time I had a blast. I too am still up and down which is the most frustrating part. Felt pretty good for a couple weeks but now this week has been tough. I think the most...

To You — New Tinnitus Sufferer

This is so true as well, the same for me. If I'm occupied with a task that requires a lot of brain power or busy with the kids on the weekend I'll almost completely forget about it. Happened on Sunday I was putting my little one to bed and was like where is it? Haven't thought about it in hours...

To You — New Tinnitus Sufferer

@Natalie Roberts great story and advice. I'm at 9 months and can totally relate to your story. I have two young daughters which made me stress even more in the beginning because I didn't know if I'd be able to take care of them. But like you said and others have, I'm getting used to it. I hear...

    My Year of Struggle

Great story. I'm at nine months and feel better a lot of the time. I think my biggest frustration is when I feel better for few days and it doesn't bother me much at all, then all of a sudden without reason my brain wants to go haywire and go right down the old path with all of the negative...

That's the biggest thing is that you lose confidence that life will be the same and everything will work out. Well, it will for him. I didn't think it would for me and things are much better and I'm confident that they will continue to get better. If you think of any other questions definitely ask.

There really isn't a lot you can do other than be supportive and understanding. I hope this helps. I've written a lot and probably rambled a lot too. Definitely check out Dr. Hubbard's posts though. One I read stated that 98% of people habituate in 6-18 months which helped give me some confidence.

I think other than the when I wrote my success story and the occasional reply to it are the only times I have been on the site for the last two months. However at first I was on it all day at work just reading the success stories over and over again hoping my day would come. It took me three...

I read a lot of success stories including those with far worse T and the pulsing T that kept saying the same thing: give it time. There isn't anything you can do about it so you just have to ride it out. I also read Dr Hubbard's story and considered CBT but at this time it's not something I have...

I still have days where it's really annoying but I don't wonder how I'm going to live with it anymore. I can even zone off of it sometimes and completely forget about it. I know I had a really hard time and dumped on my wife all the time. I know she has a good friend she talked to about it to...

I downloaded the WhiteNoise app that has the full spectrum of sounds and was able to find one to give me some relief. My T is hearing loss related though I think in the scheme of things it's pretty mild, although at first you couldn't have told me that. It does sound like he is going through...

You've taken the best first step which is banning him from the internet. Anything to take the focus away and live as normally as possible is the way to go. I felt my ENT was pretty useless he left me with more questions than answers. I have been to see Dr. Sara Jagger at the American Institute...

After 7 Months I Can Honestly Tell You...

Eric you are so right. I'm only at 7 months but if you told me that I'd feel the way I do now back in September I wouldn't have believed you. It sure isn't all sunshine and lollipops over here but I'm doing my best to change the way I think about my T and accept it. I almost feel like I wrote...

After 7 Months I Can Honestly Tell You...

@noisebox haha thanks! It isn't easy and some days aren't great. But, I'm doing my best to march on even on the crappy days. I look at those two beautiful girls I have and that's all I need to keep me going.

After 7 Months I Can Honestly Tell You...

@Zora I pulled out my paperwork from my last audiogram and it was 25db at 8000Hz. I believe on my first audiogram it was 42db at 8000Hz, so my habituation process is ongoing. I downloaded an app from the iPhone app store that has the whole spectrum of noises--Violet noise works well for me with...

After 7 Months I Can Honestly Tell You...

I do feel better. It hasn't been easy and there were days when I didn't think I could ever feel like myself again. However with each passing day I progress more and get back into living again. I probably noticed a high pitched "eeeee" noise in my right ear for close to a year before I went to...
