    Introducing Noise for Hyperacusis

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I rarely go to these forums nowadays. I was prescribed something called Oxamin/Opamox for relaxing/sleep and SSRIs for depression. What I forgot to mention was that usually something like going to a grocery store was alright (although I was a bit anxious...

    Introducing Noise for Hyperacusis

As someone who used to get pain from noise I can give my two cents. After I got my tinnitus (from loud concerts), roughly 2 weeks afterwards I started getting pain from noise. It started slowly with stuff like plates and cups etc. hurt my ears, then the sound of my voice hurt me so I had talk...

@MattR I still come here every once and I while. I have few people to chat with here. I am planning to write a detailed post on September about my recovery etc. I think. It has now been around a year but I still want to wait for a while before making a post.

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I never had much of loudness hyperacusis. Only ear pains (TTTS probably). I can only tell you what helped me: Daily walks in forests and outdoors (kept me from going insane indoors), medication (antidepressants (SSRI) and benzos), going to the gym (with ear plugs), reducing junk food and...

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I am doing good. I made a update in a another thread. Tinnitus still exists (still mild) but hyperacusis/ear pains are now longer bothering me. Last time I had any ear pain was a 1h flight I took three weeks ago. Sadly I am still unable to hear in noisy situations. Life is quite normal now...

I'm Tired of the Ear Pain Discomfort

I use it rarely nowadays. I used it 2-3 times a day initially (I think the dose was quite low). At first I had hard time sleeping without it. Now I use it only if I feel very anxious.

I'm Tired of the Ear Pain Discomfort

I cannot agree more. My pain and tinnitus started escalating because I lost all hope. In my worst state even in complete silence my ears were burning. I used to be against antidepressants and benzos (I believe fixing your diet, exercise and having a meaning in your life are the best ways to...

I'm Tired of the Ear Pain Discomfort

SSRI called Seronil. I used called Opamox (the drug itself is called Oxazepam). My pain though was more stress related I think. I didn't feel much pain when I was shopping for example but when watching TV even on very low, talking, etc. I had a lot burning and stabbing pain in ears, face, jaw...

I'm Tired of the Ear Pain Discomfort

I had intense ear pain but it got better after I started antidepressants and benzos. Try to talk to someone and try to take walks outside if you can. Those helped me to get through the dark times.

Hyperacusis with Pain. I'm Losing It... Anyone Experience This Too?

An update if someone finds this thread later. Ear pains are almost gone. No more sharp pains, I have only experienced burning sensation in a movie theater and while flying since early august. T has not changed (mild) but the reduced ability to hear speech in noise is still an issue although I...

Going to Gym with Speakers — Experiences?

I have pretty much the same gym setup. Roughly 60db with the just the music. I have gone to gym without ear plugs but nowadays I go to gym with re-usable musician's ear plugs. My T temporarily raises slightly during the gym (I notice it when I go back to the changing room) but it goes back...

    I Need Hope

I am relatively new to tinnitus, so I don't know if I can give you any help, but I can try. This may seem obvious, but try to find someone you trust to talk to (I'm sure your boyfriend doesn't mind) and perhaps get in touch with a psychologist or psychiatrist. Antidepressants and some...

Hyperacusis with Pain. I'm Losing It... Anyone Experience This Too?

Not exactly two weeks but I'm back. I am pleased to report that a lot of the pain has been reduced. I tend to have more neck pain and headaches, than ear pain. Ear pain does come up from time to time but it not as bad. I don't experience the sharp pains or burning pains as often, and talking...

Hyperacusis with Pain. I'm Losing It... Anyone Experience This Too?

I have read your story multiple times it has been quite inspiring. The symptoms have however gradually gotten worse which has worried me. I talked with my audionomist this morning and we decided that I should go to the hospital for a checkup as the symptoms have gotten worse. I was surprised...

Hyperacusis with Pain. I'm Losing It... Anyone Experience This Too?

I suppose so. I wish I took my symptoms more seriously... I though I was brave enduring the pain but I was just stupid... My university studies are supposed to start on Late August but I don't think there is any chance I could recover before that. I can delay it to January though. I hope that...

Hyperacusis with Pain. I'm Losing It... Anyone Experience This Too?

I'm 24 and I suffer from painful hyperacusis due acoustic trauma. The pain didn't come instantly though. The hidden hearing loss came from a concert but afterwards the acoustic traumas piled up until tinnitus started two weeks later. Early this month I could live pretty normal life with some...

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I don't know if anyone is watching still watching this thread but I felt like updating. My condition has only been getting worse week after week. I find more and more situations where I get pain. For example a week ago driving and sitting in a bus was not a problem but this week it has been. I...

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I think today the pain has been more psychological. Head and jaw have been hurting more than ears I think. I think my head and jaw hurts because I'm on the edge so I clench my jaw a lot. I had a good time yesterday watching TV and chatting with my brother, and even though talking hurt I still...

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I will talk about HBOT with my audionomist on Wednesday. I don't know if it is too late or not, but I would like to try it. I am concerned about the noise level in the chamber though. I'm doing my best to remain calm but it isn't easy. Luckily I am not currently working or anything, so I can...

Hyperacusis Worsening Rapidly. Not Sure What to Do.

I got hidden hearing loss after an acoustic trauma from a concert (4.5.2018), and I didn't really realize it or take it seriously until I started having tinnitus on 19.5 after hanging out with friends. After that I have been running back and forth with ENTs and audionomists. My hearing test...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

Lets hope hyperacusis goes away. Hidden hearing loss sucks more at the moment. Do you have any tips how to cope with it, or any advice how to improve on it? I feel that I do better if I look at the person talking. Eyes, expression, lips etc. I hope you don't mind explaining further? I will try...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

Got it. My doctor is supposed to ring contact me in 3 days, so we'll see what happens then. I didn't have the hearing test results last time. I yesterday listened pink noise all the time and had some nature sounds while sleeping. Today has been much more restful in terms of painful hyperacusis...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

I suppose I'm lucky enough so that my hearing problems will surely be solved in my lifetime. Maybe even before I turn 30. Who knows? I have been searching everything about Frequency Therapeutics. Their research gives me a lot of hope. Also my tinnitus is thankfully mild for now. It was...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

That should be the case but the problem is that I suffered the acoustic trauma a month ago and I didn't realize the damage the it did to my ability to understand speech in noise. I even went to bars and listened music through ear plugs afterwards. I was so stupid...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

Thank you. I threw all my headphones to the garbage bin already. My hyperacusis was it at height couple of days ago (I got scared by everything, a lot of noises bothered me) but I had no problem going to the gym and even listening some music (on low volume) from the car radio while driving...

New to Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Trouble Understanding Speech in Noise

I was recently diagnosed with hyperacusis. It seems that after years of in-ear headphone use developed my hyperacusis and an acoustic trauma after a concert made me have problems understanding speech in noise. I was in a noisy restaurant last week and I couldn't understand anything. Tinnitus...

New to Tinnitus and Hearing Loss. I'm Scared for Life and Losing Hope.

I have been lurking here for two weeks and I am starting to believe my tinnitus is going to be stay. It all started last month when I had a break period in my life before university entrance exams, so I decided to travel and go to some concerts. I used to be depressed, anxious and shy but I...
