I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

Thank you for your reply. My tinnitus is indeed a single tone—a very high-pitched electrical sound. Although the frequency doesn’t change, the volume and intensity fluctuate. It’s at its mildest in the mornings and after exercise in the afternoons. I am not familiar with the term “residual...

I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

Hi David, I recently came across your work and downloaded your Tinnitus Mix from the first post (was it from several years ago?). However, I'm unsure if I can wear headphones all night, even for one night, let alone 21. I've been experimenting with Notched Music using the AudioNotch.com...

I have been taking Nicotinamide Riboside, two capsules per day of Thorne Supplements’ ‘ResveraCel,’ which contains Nicotinamide Riboside as well as Resveratrol and Quercetin. However, I am not aware of any side effects. What might they be?

Actual Long-Term Remission from Tinnitus Achieved

I’ve never heard of that possibility before. As for ALA, I don’t think 600 mg is a lot. The more I read, the more I believe it’s safe. Regarding Prednisone, yes, I had a bad experience with it. I retained so much water that I blew up like a balloon and ended up in the hospital. Never again!

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) for Tinnitus

I wish I could find something definitive about ALA. I'm continuing with all the other antioxidants, but ALA is powerful, and I want to feel confident about taking it. I know it helps with neuropathy, as I had foot surgery 18 months ago, and I think it has done wonders for my foot. But can it...

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) for Tinnitus

I’ve been on this antioxidant supplementation program for several months, which includes 1200 mg of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). I think I’ve had some success in reducing the volume of my tinnitus. However, I keep hearing mixed messages about ALA, and I’m starting to have doubts about it...

Has Anyone Had Their Tinnitus Turn Into a High-Pitched Hissing?

Yes, but “hiss” isn’t quite the right word, nor is “ringing.” It’s more like the sound you might imagine if you could hear the power lines overhead—a very high-pitched electrical sound. It’s not in the ears but in the brain.

Tinnitus Gets Worse with NO2 Supplements

The NO/ONOO Cycle article confuses me, but I think it suggests that while nitric oxide (NO) can be beneficial, an excess of it can have negative effects. Tinnitus seems to occur when there is an imbalance, such as between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters. GABA and other neurochemicals...

Actual Long-Term Remission from Tinnitus Achieved

Sure, sorry for the delay—I've been ill but am just now getting back to normal. The product I've been taking is Thorne's ResveraCel, which is available directly from Thorne's website or on Amazon.com. I did read a report suggesting that Resveratrol itself is best taken every other day, but I...

Tinnitus Gets Worse from Vasodilators (Any Supplement, Food or Drug Causing Vasodilation)

Interesting. I came across a study on this website promoting a regimen of vitamins and antioxidants, including the vasodilators ALA and grapeseed extract, to reduce tinnitus volume by 14 dB. I don’t understand why increasing the intake of healthy antioxidants or enhancing blood flow to the...

Actual Long-Term Remission from Tinnitus Achieved

Well, I started taking ALA after it was recommended by a doctor following foot surgery. It helped my foot heal and definitely helps with neuropathy, so I have every reason to believe it is a powerful vasodilator. Regarding studies on Varenicline, thank you, but perhaps you missed the link that...

Actual Long-Term Remission from Tinnitus Achieved

Hello, and thank you! Your original and subsequent posts have inspired me. Your descriptions of yourself and your symptoms mirror my own, except for your bout with deafness in one ear as a child and the fact that I am 20 years older. Tinnitus struck me almost exactly one year ago, and I am...

I simple found a multivitamin and separate B-Complex vitamin that together contained all that was recommended and added the Grapeseed extract along with the Alpha Lipoic Acid. I consider the ALA (I take 600 mg twice a day}to be particularly important. If nothing else, I am just bombarding my...

Tinnitus Gets Worse with NO2 Supplements

I got the opposite experience. My tinnitus started after a doctor stupidly put me on a double dose of Omeprazole for several months at the same time as a high dose of the sleep medication Zaleplon. I went off both. Not sure about the sleep medication, but I do know that all PPIs suppress...

The NO/ONOO- Cycle as the Etiological Mechanism of Tinnitus

The studies exist. Look harder. But, what is the point of your arguing, unless you’re worried about it. If so, switch to an H2 blocker like Pepcid. If not, that is your choice. Not mine. But Merry Christmas.

The NO/ONOO- Cycle as the Etiological Mechanism of Tinnitus

Lucky you. But they are very serious studies. You ought to know that not every drug affects every person in the same way. The fact that Omeprazole is highly ototoxic simply puts you at risk. It also greatly increases the chance of heart attack, stroke, and blood clots. That doesn’t mean you were...

The NO/ONOO- Cycle as the Etiological Mechanism of Tinnitus

OK, so I read the entire study. But I am not a scientist. I am confused by one thing. It has been shown in several studies that there are strong links between the use of Proton Pump Inhibitors (Omeprazole, Prevacid) and tinnitus, but the one thing PPIs do is suppress the creation of Nitric Oxide...

Tinnitus from Ototoxic Medications: Omeprazole & Possibly Zaleplon

My tinnitus started in early October of 2023 after being on a double dose of Omeprazole for 3 1/2 months. I did not really need it; I had a rare episode of acid reflux in June and my doctor slapped me on Omeprazole, twice the dose recommended, for some odd reason. I knew no better. I did not...
