New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

I've put it out of my mind and won't be holding my breath—if it happens, it happens. Any of the other approaches discussed in other threads on Tinnitus Talk are likely to come to market sooner. Everything that could be discussed has already been covered, so we might as well close this thread...

I’ve Managed to Quieten Down My Tinnitus After 20 Years

I've got a Baratza, too. After many, many years of using a cheap spinning blade type, I don't know how I survived. It was one of my better kitchen appliance purchases — there's no going back!

Electrical Ear Canal Stimulation as a Therapeutic Approach for Tinnitus — A Proof of Concept Study

I've also been inquiring about this. The way they explained it to me, and I don't quite understand it fully, is that you don't need to suffer from migraines for it to work but that tinnitus involves some of the same pathways in the brain as migraines. Therefore, migraine drug treatments can...

I wouldn't be surprised if Auricle were leveraging the expertise of their development/manufacturing partner who also provides FDA approval support, in2being. It would make sense for Auricle to use in2being given their familiarity with the details of the device and experience with the process...

Auditory Mirror Therapy for Treatment of Tinnitus

Admittedly, it's a sample size of one, but unfortunately, this didn't do anything for me. Maybe the weird sensation of sounds coming from the wrong direction could provide a distraction for people with mild/moderate tinnitus, but I'm not in that category. Anyway, not to take from the...

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Alters KCC2 and GABA Inhibition in the Auditory Centers

Looking at their website, they've listed 25 potential disorders that their KCC2 development might address, but no mention of tinnitus :( Another case of off-label experimentation if it ever comes to market?

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

It's been a while since I worked on Bluetooth audio. Still, I do know many Bluetooth codecs are available, with different levels of audio quality and latency depending on the type of compression/decompression used. It's not so much the latency itself that matters (this can range from 30-200 ms)...

Auditory Mirror Therapy for Treatment of Tinnitus

I won't be surprised if you're right—I'm only trying it because it's low-risk, and I have some time on my hands right now. I'll update you in a couple of weeks. However, I don't think cross hearing aids are the same thing. I thought they re-route sound from the side of the bad ear to the good...

Auditory Mirror Therapy for Treatment of Tinnitus

For those interested, the patent application is quite informative. See the attached file. In addition to the simple method used in the trial, where the left and right microphones were reversed, he talks about further refinements to only reverse frequencies in the range of the person's tinnitus...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

Regarding the points above describing various inconsistencies in results, I have to hope that during all this time we're left waiting, there's some work going on to refine and fine-tune the treatment parameters for optimal results. It'd be pretty disappointing if the only thing happening is...

Newest Dentist Visit Recommendations for a Person with Pre-Existing Tinnitus / Hyperacusis?

You could look into an old-fashioned 'dental bridge' or even a partial/single-tooth denture rather than an implant. It's worth talking to different dentists, as their approaches can vary wildly, and, much as I hate to say it, some of the more unscrupulous ones favor the more expensive...

Akouos — A New Company Focused on Genetic Hearing Loss

This is an incredible breakthrough. Noise-induced and other modalities will follow later (e.g., Rinri Therapeutics), but hopefully, this is the start. It's good to see that direct injection into the cochlea is the preferred delivery method. I wonder if Frequency Therapeutics would've had...

Repeated Bilateral Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation over Auditory Cortex for Tinnitus

There's an active thread already on here for rTMS, tACS, tDCS, etc., that's been going since 2012, quoting various studies, people's experiences, etc., with generally inconclusive or no positive results. Can anyone figure out what's different, if anything, this time?

Electrical Stimulation of the Cochlea for Treatment of Chronic Disabling Tinnitus

And don't forget the 'other' Auricle (https://auricle.com/) is developing an implant that stimulates the cochlea externally to treat hearing loss that falls in the gray zone of not bad enough to justify a true cochlear implant. If successful, this may also offer the possibility of tinnitus relief.

Maybe @Hazel can reach out for another update from Dr. Shore after some appropriate time period has elapsed since the last one? It might also be worth reaching out to Neuromod. Reactive Tinnitus and Flying on an Airplane

I highly doubt a commercial plane is 90 dB in the cabin continuously. If that were the case, all passengers would suffer hearing damage on long flights. Maybe at takeoff and landing? Regarding car vs. plane, there should be no difference. All I know is my ears are more susceptible to damage, so...

Reactive Tinnitus and Flying on an Airplane

No music for me, but I watch movies w/ subtitles. The noise from either will spike my tinnitus, but it's somewhat of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't situation" - sound deprivation will also elevate my tinnitus, but at least in that case, I know there's no danger of a permanent spike...

Neurosoft Bioelectronics: Implantable Electrodes to Treat Tinnitus

My thinking on this is that if the tinnitus level can be significantly reduced through this or whatever method, then the reactivity aspect should automatically become less because of the compression of the loudness range. E.g., imagine your tinnitus at its worst and that can be reduced to an...

Reformulated Retigabine (Trobalt): BHV-7000, a Kv7.2 Modulator by Biohaven (Pfizer)

But hasn't Tzounopoulos concluded that Kv7.2 and Kv7.3 were the specific ones to go after? One concern I have with his work though is that it was focused on acute tinnitus cases (does a few weeks of tinnitus in a mouse translate to chronic tinnitus in a human?)

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

It's been said before, but I'll say it again - the most expedient and lowest risk approach to take, IMHO, would be to simply license the IP to Neuromod and sit back to enjoy the revenue stream. However, at this point I'd be surprised if Neuromod had any interest as they seem to be enjoying...

Custom Earplugs (ACS, Elacin, Etymotic, Westone, etc.)

I just put a few dabs on the earplug. It doesn't need much, and no need to put it in your ear. However, as @kingsfan says above, it does leave residue that needs to be wiped off so I'm going to try the other product he recommends and see how it compares.

Custom Earplugs (ACS, Elacin, Etymotic, Westone, etc.)

I was able to improve the sealing of my custom earplugs with this product. It's expensive for a tiny tube, but did reduce the occlusion effect a small but noticeable amount and also makes the plugs much easier to get in and out.

Electrical Stimulation of the Cochlea for Treatment of Chronic Disabling Tinnitus

It'll be very interesting to see how this develops. For example, if the Mayo Clinic trial is successful, is it something they may be allowed to offer patients as a treatment, or will it need to go through further trials, FDA approval, etc. In many ways, it's a new application for existing...

Reformulated Retigabine (Trobalt): BHV-7000, a Kv7.2 Modulator by Biohaven (Pfizer)

The research seems to point to KCNQ2/3 potassium channels as the primary mechanism. I haven't personally seen much on the GABA aspect but you have a good point. If both drugs make it to market, we may have an opportunity to find out! Dr. Tzounopoulos' work has verified the action of KCNQ2/3...

    Frequency Therapeutics — FX-345
