Hi. So sorry you are here. I'm sure you will improve over time. I quoted this part as it seems critical - that something about your ears were always vulnerable. Try to keep busy and be out and about - it's loudest and most hopeless when you're shut away at home.

Your good ear - did you keep exposing it to loud noise? And what got worse, the tinnitus or your hearing? I'll check your threads too to see if the answer is there.

You asked for an opinion - if I was in your shoes, I would taper off with under doctor's advice and stop. If you want to give the tinnitus a chance to stop, then it stands to reason to stop the medication and give your brain/ears a chance to recover.

21 month update The volume of my tinnitus has reduced again. Now it sounds more like a hiss - much less tonal.

My advice. Set aside the legal stuff & see what can be done for yourself healthwise. Need to isolate if the SSRI has worsened your tinnitus or the jaw clenching or a combo of both. If you're still on the SSRI & it's safe to do so, taper off or stop - this could definitely be the cause...

OK, let me clarify. When I first posted and said 70% - ignore that. I was early in the journey and had less awareness. From when it started I think it has reduced by 75% overall. So 25% of the volume/intensity is left now. And it's A LOT less distressing.

@PeanutButter, the info out there is very patchy. In any clinical papers they don't follow up x months later to see if the tinnitus is still there. But it does stop for lots of people, it's just that those people don't come back online. Please read my thread here, it should give you some hope...

@Uklawyer, it's hard to say. When I titled this thread I had NO IDEA how long this thing would stick around for and how many damn volume levels there are. If I had to put a number I'd say I'm at 25% now. It's so much easier to ignore. How is your situation going? How many months in are you?

19 Month Update The volume has reduced again. Noise is a hiss and a soft tone. Very easily covered up by external noise. When I first wake up, it's super super quiet, then it picks up during the day - this pattern hasn't changed. Easier to cope with.
