I don't know, man. I will tell you that mine has been super variable of late. For a week i barely heard it. Today it's loud again (which, of course, is why I'm back on the board). But I'm not freaking out as much as I was early on. That's something!

I Don't Understand What Kind of Tinnitus Others Are Hearing to Be Able to Cope

Absolutely. The problem is there's just no way to objectively measure our perception of those neurons firing. And our state of mind (also subjective) can impact that perception. Another way I've been thinking about this is that there are certain subjective variables - like perceived loudness...

I Don't Understand What Kind of Tinnitus Others Are Hearing to Be Able to Cope

Joe... I'm with you, bud. Today is loud as hell for me too. I've been dealing with this for two months - so even though I've had very loud and very quiet days, I'm at the beginning of this journey and have no idea where it will lead. But recently I've been thinking about a few things and thought...

    Sleeping with Reactive Tinnitus?

The issue that he and many others have is that sound enrichment - particularly at night - can exacerbate the tinnitus. It can seem louder and more jarring, making it much harder to fall asleep. I experienced this consistently when I've played a variety of ambient sounds below the level of my...

Nepali Singing Bowls — Now My Tinnitus Is Louder and Ears More Sensitive

One treatment I explored yesterday was with Nepali singing bowls and chimes. I tested and the sounds were never louder than 75 dB and only just for a moment (usually much lower like in the 50s or 60s), with some rich vibrations. I'm definitely feeling more sensitive today and the tinnitus...

Extreme Insomnia — Haven't Slept in 4 Days

I've really tried, man. But the Xanax was the only thing that got me to sleep and now it's not keeping me there. I tried no Xanax the other night when the T wasn't that bad and I couldn't even sleep then. Really in a bad way with this.

Extreme Insomnia — Haven't Slept in 4 Days

Absolutely. That's what i'm trying. The whole enrichment thing. But everything seems to make the T louder. I fell asleep to soft rain sounds and woke up to seriously jarring T two hours later. I'm just a raw nerve. If I took 1.5 xanax before bed maybe that'd do it. I don't know. I'm just hoping...

Extreme Insomnia — Haven't Slept in 4 Days

Hi everyone. I'm about a month in and haven't slept more than a couple hours a night since. I'm taking Xanax and melatonin but the problem is that the tinnitus is so loud it wakes me a couple hours later and I can't get back to sleep. Further, I can't find anything to mask it. In fact, the...

2 Weeks In and Really Struggling

I'm about three weeks in (though I had an initial 4 hour incident three weeks prior to that). Most days it's been really bad. 12000-15000 Hz. Glassy tone. But I've had one day a week (3 or 4 days total), where it seems to disappear. Yesterday was one of those days. It was basically silent most...

2 Weeks In and Really Struggling

Had a loud band practice, and had tinnitus the following morning for about 4 hours. After that I played more music with protection -- no more episodes. Then two weeks ago I had laparoscopic hernia surgery. I had some complications - wasn't oxygenating well and had to spend the night in the...

2 Weeks In and Really Struggling

Thanks for your response. Music is really the least of my worries right now. At this point I’m just trying to wrap my head around the possibility that this is permanent. And trying to figure out how to live with it. I’m not thinking clearly really. Hopefully I’ll figure out how to get to sleep...

2 Weeks In and Really Struggling

My tinnitus is less than two weeks old (likely caused by noise exposure and stress) and I haven't had a decent nights sleep since. The tone is very high and loud. Probably around 12 kHz, a sine wave that oscillates a little and sometimes pans from one ear to the other, with some other softer...
