    Intermittent Fasting for Tinnitus Relief

Myself and others with tinnitus have seen huge benefits with intermittent fasting. T fading and almost gone in some cases. There is science behind this that shows detox and the brain/gut connection can relax the central nervous system, as well as improve brain chemistry itself. The 5:2 diet is...

Stem Cell Transplant Treatment as a Reboot

Just watched an interesting segment on BBC's Panorama which documents haematopoietic stem cell transplant treatment for MS. Amazing results are happening in terms of how it reboots the nervous system to pre MS. In terms of the CNS and nerve firings that correlate to tinnitus, this could be...

Phenylephrine as a Trigger of Tinnitus

Had always thought my t was triggered as a reaction to local anesthetic lidocaine. However this did not make much sense, as lidocaine is used to treat excitatory conditions such as t. Lidocaine is often administered in a solution mixed with Phenylephrine, which is an excitatory drug to counter...

Follow-up: MRI Question — What Can an MRI Without Contrast Show That an MRI With Contrast Cannot?

Dr. Ancill, This is just a clarification. I was not asking for a diagnosis. And I will try to consult yet another neurologist/radiologist on all of this. I would like to know what in general the difference is between non contrast and contrast MRI? If contrast is the more detailed and intense of...

Hi Dr. Ancill, Thanks for joining us. Your work with the brain is intriguing. Wonder if you may be able to answer the following question: What can an MRI without contrast show that an MRI with contrast cannot? I always thought the one with contrast was the most specific. Thanks. Background to...

    Head Trauma to Existing Tinnitus?

Hi Everyone, I was doing really well, experiencing an overall fade in t, and largely disassociating from it. This last Wed however I had a fall, tripped and fell, hitting the back of my head against a carpeted floor at quite hard impact. For the last 3 days my t has been elevated, especially in...

The Average Timeframe for Resolution of Tinnitus From Onset

Hi Dr. Nagler, To a recent question, you answered: In your work/knowledge of tinnitus, what have you seen as the average timeframe for resolution from onset - 3-8 months, 3-12 months, 3-18 months, 3-24 months? Or ... ? Trying to also get a feel for the percentage of chronic patients that may...

Hearing Loss and Noise Exposure Regarding Tinnitus

Hi Dr. Nagler, Does having tinnitus make us more susceptible to hearing loss from loud noise exposure? I have always thought the answer was no. Is Magnesium Citrate Neurotoxic?

I have read from a lot of people on Tinnitus Talk that they are taking Magnesium Citrate. I was too, for years actually. But also have recently read that Citrate as a form of citric acid, creates glutamic acid/MSG. This therefore raises glutamate in the brain which causes excitatory...

    Habituation and Volume Perception

Hi Dr. Nagler, I have read from many people with t of their varying experiences with habituation. Once habituated: Some only hear their t when they seek it out. Failing TRT ...

Hi Dr. Nagler, In a recent post, you stated that 15% of people may not respond to TRT. Would you clarify the reasons this could possibly be? My tinnitus for example reacts to static frequencies around the same frequency as my tinnitus. So white noise type sounds seem to bring it out more. Or...

My Friend with Tinnitus Just Passed

    Tinnitus Volume Fading vs. Habituation

This is an interesting topic for us. Of sudden onset t cases, it has been said that eighty percent substantially fade within the first year to eighteen months. Anxiety - tinnitus and the brain

Tinnitus Without Hearing Loss. How Is This Possible?

How Can Hearing Test Ever Be Accurate with Tinnitus?

Don't understand how an audiogram hearing test with t can ever be accurate. If you are having a bad t day for example, as the test tones get quieter (no matter if their timbre is changed) the t will mask them, and the results could be drastically different from a good t day.
