Poll: TMJD-like Facial Pain After Acoustic Trauma

Hi all, I am suffering from fullness, spasms, and TMJD-like pain in my jaw and neck after a night out at a nightclub. It has been a year now with some (limited) improvement. I was wondering how many of you have had a similar experience after a noise trauma? Feel free to leave comments if...

Help with Symptoms — Ear Ache, Fluttering, Almost TMJ-Like Symptoms

I need some advice: I have constant tinnitus since a night-club about six months ago. I had some weird ear fluttering, without any other symptoms, for a month before the acoustic trauma (after a virus). I never had ear pain or jaw pain prior. But my symptoms are strange and don't fit any...

    TTTS Symptoms

Hi everyone, I have posted elsewhere on the forum, but am looking for advice regarding the ear pain I have been experiencing for five months. A brief overview of my story: at the end of August, I flew home and suffered ear pressure equalization issues while landing. I had difficulty hearing for...

Can TMJ Issues Predispose You to Noise-Induced Tinnitus?

The title says it all. I've had TMJ pain ever since a club-related acoustic trauma two months ago. I'm thinking that it could be related to the middle ear muscles. Is it worth pursuing TMJ-related treatments and diagnostic testing?

    Acoustic Trauma: 2 Months Later

Hi everyone, Today's my two month anniversary of noise-induced tinnitus! Unfortunately, I haven't really noticed any changes. I can still only hear it in quiet rooms, which is a blessing. But the fact that it hasn't improved has me a down because I'm worrying that this could be forever and that...

Is Surgery the Only Treatment for TTTS?

I've had tinnitus and TTTS for about 7 weeks now. The TTTS is painful and my ear flutters in response to some percussive sounds. The zygomatic maneuver that I posted elsewhere gives me temporary relief. Does TTTS tend to improve over time or is surgery the only answer?

Zygomatic Maneuver Providing Relief from TTTS Pressure and Fluttering in Minutes

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I tried it and was relieved of my TTTS pressure and fluttering in minutes. I will keep doing it--it is reported to result in long-term relief...

Update: 7 Weeks In — Pitch Gone Up, Ear Fluttering in Response to Percussive Sounds

Hi everyone, Just an update. Tinnitus is still there 7 weeks after nightclub (23 years old). It seems to have gone up in pitch but not in volume. Not sure what that means, if anything. Fortunately it’s mild and I can only hear it in complete silence. It might have improved? Hard to tell, but it...

Recent Chinese Study on Spontaneous Decrease in Tinnitus

Hi everyone, I just wanted to flag a new Chinese study by Xiaoqiong Ding, Xiaoli Zhang, Zhichun Huang and Xu Feng of the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Zhongda Hospital: "The tinnitus recovery mechanism is different from the mechanism for hearing recovery. Many useful...

I Need Hope — Is There Anything I Can Look Forward To? (Tinnitus Onset About 6 Weeks Ago)

Hi everyone, I introduced myself yesterday. I’m 23 years old. About six weeks ago, I got tinnitus from a night out at a club. Three weeks later, I did a course of prednisone. I thought it had decreased, but realize that it hasn’t diminished since then. I’m becoming really sad and hopeless. I...

Introduction — Tinnitus After a Night at a Club — Also Diagnosed with TMJD

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for about six weeks now--ever since I got tinnitus from a night at a club. I don't club more than three times per year (yes, three times too many!) and am 23 years old. The tinnitus is pretty mild (tonal and constant) but inaudible except at night. I can mask it...
