Does anyone else have this? Every now and then, I get a "reset". In pre-tinnitus days, it used to be a momentary sudden ring that slowly went away in seconds with a linear drop in volume. Had it once a month or two for my whole life. Now, the same sensation, except reversed. For a hundredth...

Accidentally partially held in a sneeze, so that some of the pressure went back into the ears. Couldn't help it. Now have ringing, fullness, and pain...just when things were seeming hopeful. Has anyone ever had a permanent spike from this?

Basically... we've all been there, a truck is passing by, so you totally occlude your canals with your hand over your ears and push HARD. I did this too hard I think, and my ear seemed to feel weird. Is it possible to case barotrauma (and permanent damage) like that? A search of Tinnitus Talk...

I haven't seen this one addressed on Tinnitus Talk, so here goes. We know that (1) Prednisone is crucial for sensorineural hearing loss... and (2) Damage to hearing cells might predispose to tinnitus (and is possibly the cause of it)... but also (3) Prednisone may have no immediate effect on...

So I dropped my heavy keychain onto the floor while trying to lock the door. Rechecked it with sound meter, wearing earmuffs... Clocked in at 95 dB. Don't know if it worsened my tinnitus yet. Anyone have a good rule of thumb as to how loud is too loud and likely to spike or damage...

So I went to the "experts" and made the mistake of having the LDL (Loudness Discomfort Level) test done, with the worst kinds of beeps right into my eardrum. I should have read up here first. Now the tinnitus is spiking. Is this damage permanent?

I'm new here, new to tinnitus. My tinnitus was primed years ago by ear barotrauma by an unprofessional scuba diving class, and awoken by car horns and recent acoustic trauma. Possibly made worse by several tinnitus therapy YouTube videos. Did everything wrong so far, it seems.
