I think you'll recover. The prednisone had no effect on me, and when it fluctuates like you describe it is usually a good sign.

After about 2 months I stopped noticing improvements in my first bout of tinnitus. After that, it was barely noticeable. I'm at 3 weeks of my spike now and it's still pretty bad for me sadly. Acoustic trauma this time around.
