My 7 year old got ear infection one day after swimming, I see her ear has crested dry blood. GP prescribed amoxicillin oral suspension 500mg every 8 hours for 5 days. Should I be concerned about hearing loss from amoxicillin?

You are wrong. At my test centre only one of 10 have positive results and at least 2 including me has very bad results. Do this at your own peril.

None from noise damage...plenty got worse from it including me.

Yours is like mine....you should get habituated in a few months ... just do things you enjoy and you will naturally ignore T over the next few months....trust me.

It's is not just a video it's made by an occupational therapist and he seems to know exactly what he's talking about and that seems to correlate experiences of many where ear plugs does little to protect the damage.

Its 17.75 + 7.5 you simply don't add the 2, the 2nd layer gives 5 to 10 extra protection. But 25db means sound is 8 times lower than without protection.

You have to distract your self from T by doing thinks you like.....spending time with your friends.....this will help keep your thoughts and emotions under control.....i am sure you will do it just like the millions who did already.

Were u exposed to loud music in the past? If not you have good chance of this going away.

Trust you have good chance of getting better as yours is due to infection.....AM101 worked for T suffers with infection...but is evil think 100 times before you opt for it...as it can make it worse

:) Haha 10 hours a day means using in the office and all my collleagues asking about whats behind my ears..so i am wearing only before sleeping for an hour(not every day)....i am a bit worried if prolonged use may cause hearing damage.....but i will slowly increase.....they have not told to wear...

Thanks Micheal...I am going through TRT and i got white noise generators with me...i guess i need to use them more often ......i am only using them when my Tinnitus is annoying me once or twice a week for an hour each time.

But my original question remains....how can i get hold of prednisone or persuade my GP to prescribe it.

Yes...the sound is not loud at all...i could clearly hear a conversation from a meter away....only thing i could hear slightly loud is bass from the music...maybe the earplugs irritated my ear i dont know.

Something is different....i dont know if it is H or uncomfortable to certain frequencies.....i can tolerate it but i feel like switching the TV off as its uncomfortable.

5 days back I was in a restaurant for an hour and half where music is being played with small Bose speakers. It was not loud, maybe 80 dB, never imagined it would do any damage as it was not loud at all. Before that I was in a coffee shop for 2 hours where no music was played, only people...

@bill 112 How are you doing now? Did you take the leap and get stemcell treatment. One think is clear to me Audiogram is useless for T and H. It the LDL that matters especially for H. At 50db that is quite low in your case. If stemcells prove that that would be remarkable. Please keep us posted.

Most doctors are useless for tinnitus....only way to know if your T is noise induced is to check if you have reduced tolerance to sounds (this can be tested by an audiologist)....they is no other test to detected signs of damage to ears....audiogram is of no use as the T is caused by damage to...

How loud are fireworks are they above 85db?.....i think we should not going to any place where we think we need ear plugs....people with T seem to be more succeptable to hearing damage than people without T.

Yes, i was refering to stemcell success....but i also think noise damage is more extensive.....fewer people have spontaneous recovery from NIT when compared to say T from infections ..... and people whose T from medications are less likely to have hyperacusis than when compared noise induced...

@Michael Leigh Thank you very much for your reply. I wore WNG for half today....the ones i got go deep into the ear canal and i dont seem to like them they seem to make my pulsatile tinnitus appear(i hear PT occasionally, which started when i had AM 101 injections through my eardrum). I...

T was just random India had no direct affect on it .. but it only bothered me in the night in India Yes the TRT people gave me the white noise ear plugs...the sound from them are just as annoying as my Tinnitus...so did not use them.....i shall try them for a few days and see ehat happens.

T is always changing i have good days and bad days.......it does not have any predicable pattern.

Yes i do ... my H almost vanishes when i am in India where there is plenty of input to ears....but it comes back when i am in the UK as the i cant have the rich background noise that i get in India.....

Contrary to the advice given in this thread you should slowly expose your ears to white noise to control your H.....if you reduce input to your ears....brain will turn up the gain even more making your hyperacusis even worse. @Michael Leigh has good knowledge on H ... please read his posts or...

Could you tell me if you T is somatic i.e. if you bote your teeth...does it chane the pitch or volume of T?

Everyones T is in the brain due to neural rewiring that occur in the brain due to reduced input from the ear.

my T behaves exactly same as yours it stays high as long as my fitnesss levels are high for few days and drops back when my fitnesss levels go down.

Why dont you email Stefan Heller from stanford .... explain your condition and suffering and tell that you spending your life saving on stemcells..and give details of what stemcells are going to give you and how. Ask him what he thinks about the stemcells if there any chance they can help you...

Go and see an ENT. Do u have hobbies? immerse yourself so that you are not aware of T.

The issue for T and H is not the ability to hear but the intensity of the signal is less due to synapsis so it does not matter how good our sensitivity to pick up sounds. Can you pickup speech in noisy environments well?

@bill 112 Since your post this morning i did a bit of research. http://www.nature.com/articles/srep25200 This paper suggests coding errors after synapses damage and recovery causes hidden hearing loss. the above researcher explains HHL at the end of the video at around 1 hour he says NIHL...

Researches already know NIT is hard to fix .... but dont know why ... T is occurs due to syapses loss.....but NIT also seem to cause some kind of damage to it even when it still working so that lost connections to synapses cannot be re-establisted.
