Paranoia or Reasonable Concern Over Noise Levels?

I find it difficult too and I really think that reading on forums can cause anxiety for noise. I don't really know what to answer you, it really depends on how your ears are. But being to paranoia about noise isn't necessary. Did you ever had a spike?

    POSITIVE UPDATE!

Thank you for your kind message!! :thankyousign: My case is a little strange: I really think that I have tinnitus for years. I remember when I was around 17 (I am 21 now) that I would hear sometimes a beep when I was in bed. I thought it was because I have been to a couple concert (front row)...

    POSITIVE UPDATE!

Really happy to read this! I am a student and don't go out a lot, because I am scared to damage my ears. It is really a pity, because I really like to go to bars, a party, etc. , but when I go, I am so anxious afterwards, for at least 7 days.. I hope someday I will be less scared to go!

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

It is weird that your T changes so much. Is it possible to go back to the doctor and ENT? Didn't you change something in your diet? Or did you stop smoking? It is possible that it is anxiety. Or maybe it is normal that T changes so much? When I think about it: my T also changes a lot! How...

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Sleep is so important and I think it might play a part when T seems louder. I am happy you try all sort of things, I am going to do that too! (T is louder lately and I think it is my neck and shoulders) I understand you dont't want sleep meds, I am also not a fan of meds.

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

So you don't grind your teeth? And yes, I mean light sleeper! Mm, I am also a light sleeper (I think I have been my whole life) and maybe it plays a part with T? It wouldn't surprise me. There may be techniques to learn how to sleep better!

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Oh btw: you don't have jaw problems, right? Do you forse your jaws at night (or day)? (sorry, I really don't know how to say it in English) And are you a good sleeper? Like: do you wake up fast when you hear a noise or something?
  11. M

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Sorry for my late reply! I really think that you need to stop asking yourself why your T is spiking and just ignore it. Ans yes, stress and anxiety (and thinking all day about your T) can make T worse. This may also play a HUGE part. Last night I slept not really well (like 5 hours) and my T...

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Happy to hear from you! I wish you would feel better, but it takes time as you know. How is your BPPV? And are your neck and shoulders still good? What Should I Do? A Spike After Going Out

    Crying, Crying and Crying...

Is it possible to get some help from a specialist? And you hear it because you listen to it. Did you hear the thicking of the clock? The sound of the refrigerator? No, because you are focussed on your hobby and your brain filters this kind of sounds. It will get better!

What Should I Do? A Spike After Going Out

How do people here deal with not be able to go out and stuff? Because I know the majority of the people here don't go to bars, clubs, a party, etc. Don't you miss it? I really find it difficult dealing with this, even more difficult than the T itself.

What Should I Do? A Spike After Going Out

Thanks for your reply!! I don't really think I spoke too loud, because when I wear earplugs, I tend to speak softer because I hear voices better (they filter out the music) and I forget that for people who don't wear earplugs, my voice isn't really clear. edit: But when I think about it, I...

What Should I Do? A Spike After Going Out

Thank you for your message. No, I never listen to music through headphones! And I have noise reducing earplugs, they are made especially for my ears and I wore them the whole night! :) (except when I left the room with music) My spike settled down even more, so I think I will not go get...

What Should I Do? A Spike After Going Out

Hi guys! :) Last night I had a party at someone's house. It was not very loud, because there were neighbours. The only thing that was a bit loud, were voices and even that was not really loud. To illustrate: I could a lot of times not even hear what they were singing on the radio, because the...

Can't Forget My Tinnitus for One Second Unless I'm Busy

She says her T is mild, so I think that even if her T would be milder, she would still be botherd by it, so I don't think that's the problem. And I don't think that the music festival made her T worse.

You are so right. A week ago I talked to a guy I know who have T and still goes out, most of the times without earplugs. I asked him: But when you go home, your T must be louder? He said that it is always pretty loud, but he just doens't listen to it. That night he used some earplugs at a...

I Have Visited Nightclubs — No Spikes

In the way you talk, it seems really likely that T will get worse if you continue to go out and stuff. But I just don't understand how it is possible that there are sooo many people AND musicians who still go in loud places and seems fine (or are they not fine and just uesed to severe t?) Can...

Do You Still Go to Movies?

I am sorry that you T got worse! I just don't understand how it is possible that some people with T go out for years without earplugs and are fine, I just don't get it. Just like the musicians who still perfom. Can someone explain this? Can there be a psychological factor?

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Yep, true. But if you neck really is a mess, it is good to fix that (for your T and your neck itself). My T is related to my neck, shoulders and jaw, so it is possible if you fix these things, your volume will go down. And ofcourse taking care of your mental health will do a lot. For example: I...

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

It would be nice if you found someone with hearingloss and T who is relaxt with it! Then you will see that it can be different. But I don't really know how to find someone like that. My dad btw has also T, but he isn't bothered by it, I never talks about it, only if I want to talk about my T.

Right now it is difficult, but I think you can learn to deal with anxiety!! It is just your thoughts about T. Again: :huganimation:and search for the help you need! Don't be too hard on yourself, you can do this!!
  47. M

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

I really think that that is the key with tinnitus: you just need to stop caring. And it will get better, it really will. You have coped for 20 years with t!! So I don't see why you would not be able to do that again.
  48. M

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

But how did you cope for 20 years? :huganimation::huganimation: Did you ever meditate? Maybe it will make you more relax! This may sound very weird, but when I had panic attacks, I would cuddle someone or a teddy bear or something like that and it really gave me some relief! :)

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Yes, please do that! I really understand what your mean and yes, anxiety makes it so much worse. Take care, it will get better. At the moment you are just focussed on it and that is one of the reasons it is so bad. I have been there! I started to care less over time and especially when I...

A Life with Tinnitus — How to Live?

Ofcourse I don't know how your T sounds and I know T can be or is horrible, but I also know that your thoughts about T makes T worse. Spike After Pub

Thank you for this post! What you say can be true: when I came back that night, I was sooo scared that I made my T worse, that I could not stop listening to it. But I don't get it: I am pretty sure there are a lot of people who still go out with their T, but just aren't on this forum. How is this possible? I personally start going out again and T seems a bit worse, so I need to be more careful (more breaks, not staying longer than 1,5 hours etc.)...

How Much of Tinnitus Is Psychological?

I recognize what you say. I have heard T for years (I remember telling someone that I heard sometimes a sound in my ear when I was around 17/18). Poll: Have You Experienced a Permanent Worsening of Your Tinnitus?

I get what you want to say, but I really think that you can say that about everything in life: If you worry about your getting an accident while driving, you will be more likely not to drive anymore. If you worry about getting your heart broken by someone, you will be more likely not to fall in...

Poll: Have You Experienced a Permanent Worsening of Your Tinnitus?

Yes, if you not only worry, but also act, stress can be a "good" thing. But I think be worried about something that is out of your control is just useless. And in the end, stress isn't really good for your health and mind.

Poll: Have You Experienced a Permanent Worsening of Your Tinnitus?

How had it worked out very well for you??? Silly example: Imagine that I would be terrified to break my leg. I would be worring and be cautious for ten years, and after ten years, I break my leg. I feel terrible, scared, etc. BUT I have been worried about something for ten years, wasting ten...

Poll: Have You Experienced a Permanent Worsening of Your Tinnitus?

Maybe I am overreacting, sorry. It is true that there are also people here who are more relaxed about their T. The posts make me anxious because I am afraid of getting louder T. It is my own problem that the posts makes me anxious. It is just so difficult: on this forum, I read about people who...
