When I was being screened they specifically told me not to get on what they call the "tinnitus network," (i.e. this site and others like it) and talk about the effects of the drug. They insisted that sites like this are counterproductive because they are breeding zones for horror stories.

I have just returned from my AM-101 trial screening. The trial will consist of 3 injections. Being double blind, there is a 30% chance that I will receive a placebo. The doctor that I talked to was extremely knowledgable about the procedure and has very high hopes for the future of this drug...

I haven't used psychedelics in quite a while but I could definitely see how they could be beneficial to tinnitus sufferers, especially if you have your anxiety under control. In my experience, I always walked away in an optimistic state of mind after a trip.

I'm not sure I buy the whole "memorization" theory either. If the signal is "jammed" (AM-101?) or the rogue signal is eliminated at the source (Hair cell regeneration), I see no reason why the tinnitus would permanently remain. Sure, I could see it taking a little while for everything calm down...

@LadyDi Yeah I wish that I could find a study that isn't close to 30 years old haha. I guess the good thing is that they are finding things that actually provide some results, even though they are short in duration/not fully understood.

@Matty, I had similar side-effects from molly after I attended a rave on new years eve a couple years back. Luckily, they seemed to stop about a week later. Hopefully things will calm down a bit for you.

I agree with @Dr. Ancill. I'm much less concerned about a "cure" per se as I am an effective treatment. Honestly, as long as there is some sort of pill or device that will be able to silence or greatly reduce perception of chronic tinnitus, I think everyone will be ecstatic. That being said...

I've definitely been doing a lot better, but every now and then I'll get thoughts like these that just terrify me. I can't imagine never being able to habituate. But what can you do?

I have them too, @Erlend. I forgot I had them until you brought it up. You just get used to them. I guess floaters are similar to T in that regard haha

thats a good question @Erlend. Being 21, we're kind of in the same boat. Hopefully us being young when we got T will help us out in the future.

@Hopeful, I completely agree. If there was a proven treatment already in the works, I would care much less about my tinnitus. That being said, I have a feeling that researchers are close to making a huge breakthrough and that a cure and/or effective treatment is right around the corner.
