    Can iPods Cause Tinnitus?

@Travie808 It is possible to develop tinnitus from listening to music through headphones or earphones. But it is definitely a positive sign that your hearing tests show no hearing loss. If I were you I would try melatonin as a sleep aid which could be helpful. Tinnitus is unpredictable and it...

Success with 3 Things (LLLT, Arches Tinnitus Formula, Pycnogenol)

@linearb just wanted to say it is encouraging for you to say that within this time frame (the first few months I am assuming) it is likely that tinnitus will improve. I am one month into this and looking for all the hopeful posts I can find!

Let Me Get This Straight — Are These My Only Options?

@Aschenherz try to stay positive my friend. there is no cure as I'm sure you are aware by now. however this does not mean that your tinnitus will not significantly reduce over time and fade into the background. hopefully it greatly reduces and your brain tunes it out. try to avoid silent rooms...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Louder

In my opinion it is the cold. Colds cause an inflammation of the sinuses which can put pressure on Eustachian tube. It can take several weeks for the tinnitus increase to subside. I would try to relax though because in my opinion this is only a temporary increase that will subside within a few weeks

Getting Extra Ringing Sound with Other Sounds? Tinnitus or Hyperacusis or What?

@al3xisnic0le it is very likely the congestion. when you are congested it causes any tinnitus to increase in general because of the inflammation in the sinuses. also as you said it is very possible you are simply perceiving is as louder due to your focus on it. try your best to focus on other...

So I Just Got Back from the Doctors...

@alyssalee97 they could potentially give you prednisone if it is nosie induced but the best thing you can do is rest your ears for the next few months. Manage your anxiety and try not to focus on the ringing sound. It may be helpful to sleep with a fan/White nosie machine on. You have good...

    High Pitch Ring to Hiss

@racerfish since the tinnitus has only been noticeable for the past month I have been very careful to protect my ears. Hopefully this will increase chances of recovery. If I'm lucky enough to have the tinnitus disappear/significantly reduce I will be sure to take your advice and always protect...

    High Pitch Ring to Hiss

Personally I am still only one month into the tinnitus so I am still hoping it will go away or at least reduce to barely audible levels. Time will tell

    High Pitch Ring to Hiss

@RudyL90 thanks for your thoughts. It's encouraging to know that your friend had it completely dissipate after four months. As you said tinnitus is unpredictable and it's best to not constantly monitor it. Obviously, I break that rule occasionally but I try my best to not worry about it...

Help Me Please! A Few Hours Ago I Noticed an Extremely High-Pitched Ringing

@al3xisnic0le well first off do everything you can to reduce your anxiety. do what you would normally do to relax and that will at least get your mind partially focused on another stimulus. do not sit in a silent room listening to your ears ring as this will only cause more anxiety which will...

    Noise Induced Tinnitus

@Michael Leigh @maltese these are some encouraging posts for me. I am roughly one month into the tinnitus and reading this thread gives me a lot of hope that it will either disappear or reduce to a barely noticeable level within the next few months!

    High Pitch Ring to Hiss

After about a month my tinnitus has gone from a high pitch ring to a not as noticeable hissing sound. Is this a good sign that the tinnitus could resolve within the next few weeks/months? I am assuming my tinnitus came from listening to earbuds but it came around suddenly, not after a sudden...

    Ear Infection/Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery?

@Sam5560 do everything you can to not focus on the noise. it may be helpful to have a white noise machine or fan on in the background to distract your brain from the ringing sound. as I said before also if your ear ringing started 3 days ago it is very likely that it will go away. it is very...

    Ear Infection/Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery?

@hopeforme i ask because my audiogram is somewhat similar. There is a slight dip at 6000 but it goes up afterward. I guess only time will tell regarding my ear ringing. Everybody's tinnitus is different! Wishing you the best

    Ear Infection/Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery?

@hopeforme I also am curious about your audiogram. I think I asked you about this on a different forum. if your audiogram is in the normal range why are you so convinced that your T is noise induced? is the dip only at the 4khz frequency that different from all other frequencies tested?

    Advice Is Appreciated

Protect your ears! you are just experiencing a temporary spike which should soon return back to the level you are used to. Also, try not to stress about your tinnitus being permanent. many people have their tinnitus go away and do not post about their success! hang in there. try to keep busy and...

From Dehabituating Myself Into Getting Tinnitus to Total Silence and No More Tinnitus

@NatureHiker In my opinion there is a difference though between habituation and the tinnitus actually going away. Ideally, the tinnitus would go away or decrease to a barely noticeable level. IF my understanding is correct, habituation essentially means there is no change in your tinnitus you...

From Dehabituating Myself Into Getting Tinnitus to Total Silence and No More Tinnitus

I agree with this statement 100%. When somebody's tinnitus disappears/significantly is reduced they just want to move on and do not want to think about it any longer. It is unlikely that the person would take time out to post on a website like this due to the fact that they now give so little...

Audiogram and Other Hearing Test Results

Here is an audiogram that I had done two weeks ago. I am just curious to see what anybody on here thinks regarding the results. Obviously, there is a dip at 6,000 hertz, but it is still within normal range so I am confused as to how important the dip is. Any thoughts are helpful. Thanks

Tinnitus Since 2010 — Louder Now

@Paul1980 Well, I don't have any expert advice for you. Just the usual stuff that you have probably seen before. Try to keep busy and this will take your mind off the ringing as much as possible. Try to use a sound machine/fan to sleep because that is most likely preferable to sleeping in a...

    Hello, Fellow Tinnitus Sufferers!

@RawrrMarisa Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I sincerely hope that things get better for you soon. Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

@LukeT130 doubtful that an urgent care would prescribe you a steroid unless it was clear you needed it. I would try to get the ent appt moved closer and ask him about a steroid if I were you. Also try to get a prescription for an anti anxiety drug like clonazepam if you are having serious...

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

@JimChicago also rectongize that even if the prednisone doesn't eliminate the tinnitus entirely you will get used to it over time. The reason you are having so much trouble is due to your brain interpreting the noise as a threat because it's new and unusual. But if you are able to not stress...

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

@JimChicago he will probably give you prednisone as that is the most used steroid. Ask him about dosage and try to get a starting dose of at least 60mg. Hopefully it reduces the tinnitus for you!

    Sudden Increase in Tinnitus

@Doug_1029 wow well that must have been quite an experience! For me I was using ear plugs to sleep that were squishy and moldable so I don't think it's possible that something became detached and lost into my ear. They are pretty solid and would only break apart if pulled with some force. I wish...

    Tinnitus in Dreams

@Markku random question my friend. what are the downsides to taking anti-anxiety or anti-depressant drugs to deal with this? is the only downside the potential for addiction?
  44. ryan1234

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

I have seen that prednisone can eliminate/reduce tinnitus if you use it when you first start developing the ringing sound. does anybody have any experience/thoughts on this?

    Sudden Increase in Tinnitus

@Samantha R that is the strange thing, I don't think I've had any significant noise exposures. No loud concerts recently or anything like that. I have been to a doctor and she said that my ears looked a little inflamed so she gave me Claritin d to decongest me which hasn't lowered the t at least...

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

  50. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb thank you. I don't know if you have any experience with ear plugs but do you think it's possible/likely that my increase in t was caused by myself pulling the ear plug out too quickly? Thanks again for your thoughts
  51. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb @Michael Leigh do either of you have a recommendation of what a safe level of decibels would be to be exposed to on a regular basis. would around 60-70 be okay?
  52. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb I am also very tired and stressed lately so hopefully once I get rest and am able to relax the t will return back to its previous level which was barely noticeable unless I was in a 100% silent room. I would sleep with some white noise and it was no problem
  53. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb I am concerned because I honestly don't even know if I had t prior to this week. I would occasionally experience ear ringing but it was extremely mild and barely audible the majority of the time. I am definitely not claiming to have suffered with this for an extended period. I honestly...
  54. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb there could be a connection to the ear plugs, but if that is the cause of my t increase I don't see how it could be long term considering I only wore the ear plugs for a few hours for a period of a few weeks
  55. ryan1234

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@linearb @Michael Leigh do you think my t spike could be due to myself being on multiple airplanes while having a cold last week?

Sleeping with Earplugs and Background Noise

@Michael Leigh part of my problem as well is that I'm stressing about it and listening for it which obviously causes it to sound louder. Hoping that I can relax and not think about it which will lead me to not notice it anymore
