Umm, I'm actually not sure! Sorry! But I know there was still some noise but it was definitely pretty quiet compared to the likes of a drill.

Look into places that do air abrasion dental work. No drill is involved, I have gotten two cavities filled that way since having h & t.

I thought my H came from a sound event as well, and my audiologist said it was unlikely since it was almost 2 months after an event. She said it probably was from the stress/depression I had put my self into. But yes medication can cause both T&H.

I'm very happy to see that this thread is still going strong! Remember, even on dark days - think positive. It may be hard, but it is worth it.

I used to take an Amtrak every weekend 4 hours away, for the first 8 months of having T. It never spiked it, and I didn't ever wear ear muffs or anything. Sometimes I did listen to music at a low volume and sleep though!

Perception of T is always going to be heightened when earplugs are worn, and then it just seems to get louder. Even before my spike when my T was barely audible - when I would occasionally wear earplugs my T would sound so loud while I had them in and for like a half hour after.

@Jay M no, I moved here last summer and my T wasn't bothersome until the end of November when I had a spike. Then H came in January.

update: one of my neighbors believe kids were setting off dynamite in the alley. Definitely was louder than an m80.

My neighbors slammed their door this morning as loud as they could while I was sitting in my living room a couple feet away (our walls are thin), and now I have some kind of distortion sound. I get new tones and sounds daily it seems.

@tabby well it's not gone now - but it would of been almost a year with T when it was down 80% in volume. H is definitely a little harder than T.

@Stina I actually was trying that for a bit - though the reason behind doing TRT would be for my H - to raise my LDLs.

The woman here who does the TRT isn't taking any new patients due to her going through her own medical problems. The next closet person is 7 hours away!

Yeah I initially got T back in December 2012, and then November 2013 I went to a concert and T spiked a lot - and I got the crackling/popping and Hyperacusis!

I think I have ETD, but this happened after a T Spike from going to a concert. My ears also crackle and pop now!

It honestly isn't very loud. Just wear earplugs if you're scared! Definitely no where as loud as a vacuum cleaner or anything.

I have Xanax, Amitrip, and Paxil. I have never taken any of them, all were prescribed by different ENTs when I got my spike. I'm too scared that they will affect T.
