I was alway worried about never hearing silence again, but its true you never really hear silence anyway. There's always a background noise you're tuning out, why not one more?

Recent Onset of Tinnitus — Need Advice on Medication and Coping

I remember a few days after my onset listening to this: It helped mask my tinnitus for a couple of hours but it then after a while started to really grate, and then even appall me, I was a grown man of 31 and being driven to tears. I remember at that moment slamming my laptop shut in...

Recent Onset of Tinnitus — Need Advice on Medication and Coping

Im sorry to hear about your onset. I know that this is very hard to do right now because its new, but you have to hold on to the fact that, even if these sounds don't go, you will adapt. Stay strong.

Thanks guys I'm feeling much better today, and my tinnitus has floated right to the back of my consciousness again. There's definitely an anxiety link for me.

Anhedonia (and Anxiety and Depression and Tinnitus)

These are my four horsemen. Just wondering, who here has much experience with anhedonia? I was on here last September with severe anxiety over my sudden onset of tinnitus. Now, the reverse has happened a sudden bout of anxiety has made my tinnitus so much more noticeable. The reasons for this...

    Nearly a Month On

It just came on one night, its fine though. I know at the beginning it seems like a dreadful torture but honestly even now I can't hear it unless I try. Nothing sets it off per sae, its just that I become more aware of it when I'm tired or I'm having a hard time sleeping. The best thing is to...

    Nearly a Month On

Hello just thought I'd update as I was thinking about the past year over Christmas and remember how awful my onset was, but fortunately how (conparitively) brief the really bad patch was. The long and the short of it is my tinnitus is still here, but honestly it doesnt bug me. When I first...

Being very grateful to every one who has taken the time to post their success stories I promised I'd write on here when I had something positive to feedback. Its happened a lot sooner then I thought it would. Just less then a month ago I woke up in the middle of the night with tinnitus in my...

How Do You Cope with Your Work?

I'm fairly lucky in that I work in a lab with a lot of white noise and a radio. High pitch noises are very difficult to tolerate though. It seems like I can naturally now just home in on them now, my car makes a faint high pitched sound I never noticed before as do various electric devices at...

Hey, Exposure at Loud Night Club

Its good to write down and keep track of how you feel. Try not to let the lack of silence freak you out, if it helps you never had total silence before tinnitus. You had your heartbeat, breathing, traffic etc.. All sorts of sounds you're habituated to. Tinnitus will just become another one of...

How Am I Going to Get Through This Horrible Benzo Withdrawal?

No Sandra you can't force your self into a time table, its just going to make you more miserable having that hang over you. It'll just be counter productive. Never give up on life, I know things are so, so hard now, but I promise you things will and do get better.

    Acquiring a Positive Mindset

I've had T for three weeks and i have to say Im dealing with it much better now. I think when I hear it and feel a bit annoyed or even afraid of it, I just remind my self, "Yes, you have tinnitus. You are going to hear that from now on, its your new normal. Its fine, you'll forget it soon and...

    Tinnitus Perception vs. Actual Volume

I'm thinking some peoples T is more "intrusive" than others. I know that if I focus on it I can hear it through anything. Most of the time I just mentally shut it out, which is easier with sound and much easier during the day. Still not figured out sleep yet.

How Am I Going to Get Through This Horrible Benzo Withdrawal?

As an ex (aka recovering) meth head, I can only advise cold turkey. Though benzo's are quite different to meth. Addiction is hell, the sooner you get off them the better. You have to know, things are hard now, but I promise they will get better. I hope u are doing ok.

    Deciding Whether to Have Children

My cousin has regular tinnitus, pulsatile tinnitus and vertigo. She was diagnosed in 2012 and it hasn't stopped her from marrying and starting a family. Find out what you need to do and do it if thats what you want to do. Tinnitus shouldnt stop you. Indeed I think having kids can probably...

    Listening to Your Tinnitus

This might sound odd, but after spending my first day back at work with tinnitus (thank fk I made it, my anxiety spikes were bad but I didn't have to reach for the valium), It's kind of calming to hear my T after work. Let me explain, I've had tinnitus for just under two weeks now and I can't...

NRX-101 New Depression Drug Might Help Tinnitus (in Theory)?

Now that it seems likely they they'll be able to measure tinnitus, and given our increasing understanding of which bits of the brain are being affected,I don't think it too un reasonable to hope for more effective drug treatments in the next 5 years. Tinnitus is a puzzle, a hard one, but...

Study Suggests Serotonin May Worsen Tinnitus

I'd been on Sertraline for years and I'd come off of it for about 5 months before the tinnitus started. I'm now back on it in the hope it'll help with my anxiety over developing tinnitus. The greater my anxiety the greater/more noticeable my tinnitus, the greater the tinnitus the greater my...
