Horrific Spike After Shredding Paper! Help? What Can I Do?

I think when it gets like this and you’re not coping perhaps ask your doc for something to take short term to get through it. For me, I drink a couple of wines in the evening - that’s not everyone’s ‘go to’ but it has helped me these past 17 years.

Horrific Spike After Shredding Paper! Help? What Can I Do?

I reckon it will settle Kiel. Until then, keep busy, have a glass of wine or two, go out walking (being outside helps I reckon) - do whatever it takes to get you through this hiccup. It happens to all of us. You just have to do things a little differently to get you through. It’ll be ok.

New Tinnitus Sound and Feeling of Pressure in Ear

Go and check if you have a build up of ear wax at your doctors. Muscle tension in the neck and shoulders can cause weird sounds and sensations in your ears too. Or it could be a eustation tube issue perhaps.

Tinnitus Blasting After Starting to Take Remeron (Mirtazapine)?

I believe only taking a few of these pills (it’s called Avanza in Australia) kick started the hiss in my head 17 years ago. I regret taking those 4 pills. Didn’t take much.

Blocked Eustachian Tube Causing a Feeling of Fullness in the Ear?

Hi Brandon This happened to me a few years ago - a congested in my sinuses head cold then a full feeling in my left ear for about 5 weeks afterwards. I was a nervous wreck about it given my high anxiety levels with my long term tinnitus. My GP told me that ears can take the longest to come good...

Can Being Exposed to Loud Noises Many Years Ago Increase the Risk for Getting Tinnitus Later On?

Say in your 20s you were out and about in noisy venues not aware of ‘hearing health’ then you settle down and live a quiet life for many years after. Can tinnitus come and bite you later in life due to what you did in your youth even if you’ve been careful around noise since then?

Got a Cold — Tinnitus Worse Now

Hi Brandon In 2016 I got a really congested cold. My left ear wasn’t quite right for up to 5 weeks after the cold finished. My doc said that ears can take the longest to heal after a cold. Given my tinnitus and heightened anxiety, it was a miserable 5 or so weeks for me.

My Left Ear Has Been Playing Up — New High-Pitched Sound

I’ve been living with this condition since 2002. Being an anxious person anyway, it’s been pretty hard to take at times. My left ear has been giving me a new high pitched sound for the last 6 weeks I’d say. Not sure what made it change as noticeably. Getting older perhaps? My neck and shoulders...

Manual Ear Wax Removal — Afterwards Tinnitus Spiked

Spikes can last a long time Scott, don’t assume the worst. Mine has thrown me curveballs over the years ... perhaps just one of those coincidences that you’ve noticed an increase after your wax clear out.

    Side Sleeping > Muffled Hearing

Yes I woke up with a stuffed left ear after a head cold and it lasted for about 5 weeks. I had been laying on that side too. Ears can be the last things to right themselves after a cold my doctor told me.

    Side Sleeping > Muffled Hearing

Manual Ear Wax Removal — Afterwards Tinnitus Spiked

Perhaps Scott this is just our cross to carry with this condition. We get fluctuations and torture ourselves trying to figure out the cause. Sometimes this is just what tinnitus does - it’s not a fully understood condition and we have to learn to cope with the changes .... :dunno:

Manual Ear Wax Removal — Afterwards Tinnitus Spiked

It will settle Scott - find ways not to ‘hyper focus’ on it and ways to relax. You will be fine.

But extracting wax is an outer ear procedure, just in the ear canal - not internally into the inner ear region ??

Manual Ear Wax Removal — Afterwards Tinnitus Spiked

You know I’m doubtful that a quiet procedure like a manual wax extraction would cause an increase. Perhaps your hearing is getting used to a better level of sound that can get through now and your brain is adjusting to it? I read that here once.

Manual Ear Wax Removal — Afterwards Tinnitus Spiked

Hi Scott Good on you for just getting the manual clean and not micro suction which is a no no for folk like us. Have you been on any medication recently? No noisy environments lately?? Perhaps your anxiety and preoccupation with your tinnitus is making it ‘spike’. The mind is very powerful.

    “Alone” on Vacation

I often end up on the couch in the middle of the night so that the hum of the fridge gives me some background noise. Often my husband will wake up and I’ve ‘hit the couch’. My cat jumps up with me and I try and get some sleep. Not something I’d be doing if I wasn’t afflicted with this condition...

I started with this in 2002 at 28 years old. I’ve had plenty of ups and downs on this journey. Convincing New Tinnitus Sufferers of Habituating to Tinnitus and Life Returning to Normal

I’m a long time tinnitus person (16 years) and I have noticed a tendency to try and convince new sufferers that ‘once you habituate you will be fine and life will return to as it was before’. I think we need to be more transparent - life changes with a chronic medical condition which is what...
