Always Had It, Now It's a Problem

I recently purchased the sound oasis s650. I haven’t had trouble with sleep, but the advice I received here was to include background noise at night. The volume, set below the sound level of the tinnitus will help with habituation, extending into the day time hours. I’ve had it a week now. It’s...

Too Much Fruit in My Basket

All the best to you @gggoodgggirl When I first experienced T 3 months ago I thought it was temporary, then I became horrified as it continued. I was reacting from an emotional centre and couldn’t get a handle on having to live with T. When I had a quiet day, or days, I would have such relief...

    Habituated?

I’m almost 4 months into a loud tinnitus. It has been an emotional trip the first few months and still is at times. I pray for habituation or hopefully that the t resolves. I have some hearing loss in the high frequencies, and gained the t from ear trauma , painful syringing. I’m better able to...

    This Is Not Fun

I’ve had a few quieter days. It’s been good. The T has turned through today Though, but my attitude is so much different. I recognize my feelings around the T, acknowledge them, then understand that the volume of the T. comes and goes, as does my awareness of the tinnitus sounds. This strategy...

Air Raid Sirens for Religious Purposes in NYC

I'm three months into T and i would hate the thought of never being able to travel to NYC again. I've been many times and love the galleries, restaurants, and some live plays. I don't like this tinnitus at all. Its a hard adjustment and i don't even know if its permanent with me, but it seems...

Tinnitus Since October — Getting Better

Its nice to read a success story. Or, at least it seems you are on your way. I wish you all the best. Im 3 months into the T and I've felt a couple of times that my T was going away only to have it return quite loud again. the spikes are hard to manage my way through. This site is good to share...

New to Tinnitus, What to Do?

"If you have hearing loss it is advisable to wear a hearing aid as I've explained in my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View. If you don't wear a hearing aid your brain will try to compensate for the missing frequencies that it can't hear from the outside world. It will turn up it's internal gain...

    This Is Not Fun

I'm with you in spirit Joel, hang in there. adjusting to T is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and continue to do. I'm new to this and its not fun at all. I hate it. But I'm going to hang in there and see how i adjust. Ive read more a few stories of people adjusting well by...

A List of Places Where You Could Be Exposed to Loud Noises. Places to Watch Out for.

Hang in there Bill. I've picked up some ear plugs for when I'm out and about. Around the house when i use power tools, or even hammering i have the volume control ear muffs that some use on the gun range. I find they filter the high frequency and loud sound noise out nicely. I just ordered the...

New to Tinnitus, What to Do?

Thanks for this @Michael Leigh I’m 3 months into T after completely blocking my ears with mineral oil, then a painful syringe I developed timnitus. I was sent to audiology and it was discovered I have hearing loss typical of prolonged exposure/ damage from loud equipment. I work in health care...

3 Months In and Learning to Cope

@Bill Bauer Thanks for your note Bill. I’ve often heard here that avoiding the emotional upsets is so important. A little hard to do when the T is blaring, but I’m getting better at redirecting myself to another activity, and just letting it do what it does. Time as a healer. Great concept. I...

3 Months In and Learning to Cope

@Agrajag364 I forgot to mention that I’m not sure if the frequencies. I know both docs felt the tinnitus is related to my hearing loss in those higher frequencies. The hearing loss they observed is in their opinion similar to someone who has worked in Moises environments.

3 Months In and Learning to Cope

@Agrajag364 I have the hearing loss in both ears as well as the tinnitus. At least it seems like both ears. I hear it more in the middle of the back of my head. I usually end up thinking it’s mostly the right ear. @jjflyman how does syringing cause tinnitus? Your right it is an inner ear issue...

Tinnitus from Pouring Hydrogen Peroxide and Slap

@billie48 That was well written. Thank you. I needed to hear that. I am learning to adjust to Tinnitus. It’s difficult and seems like constant work. 3 Months In and Learning to Cope

hello @GregCA and @Bill Bauer , i saw the ENT last week. She confirmed that she did not detect any damage. She looked quickly in the ears, but noted I'm not experiencing any pain, and hadn't, except the painful syringing, which would indicate lasting damage. She did not have an explanation as...

Sorry to Be a Pain, Feeling Very Down with New Revving Car Engine Tinnitus Sound

Hang in there @Shaunie, It is hard to live with T 24/7, but take it one day at a time. I’m new to T and although the T hasn’t lowered in volume much, I’m slowly getting better at coping. I think we have to hang on to hope, and give our selves a chance to adjust and learn new approaches. I also...

Spontaneous Recovery Stats: Many Recover (3 Studies)

I did have some quieter moments two months ago. And the T would come back. It does seem random, the ringing, it will go for days on end, then quiet down for a couple of days. It may be that I’m just getting habituated. It’s really loud this afternoon and this evening. What is different is that...

Thanks for your insights Tomcnyc. I am new here and have been struggling since acquiring T 3 months ago. 3 Months In and Learning to Cope

I saw my 2nd ENT on Tuesday. She detected no damage in the ear drum. She was unable to offer any insights into the tinnitus. This ENT felt that the tinnitus is likely to be permanent and I could explore some sound therapies available. She offered that the brain is likely filling in the hearing...

There has been some improvement. It still rings most of the time,. Often loud and continuous, for days, but at time it becomes almost in Audible, but comes back after a day or two of a break. My ears, and area around feel tender. Still hoping it’s a passing thing and a hard lesson learned

Thank you Greg for taking the time to reply. I did more than put drops of oil in my ear. I used a syringe to fill the ear up thinking I needed to get the oil past the blockage. I know this was rather silly. It was after this that the discomfort persisted until the syringing at the fox’s office...

Thanks Bill, that gives me some hope. I still wonder if it was the mineral oil pressure on my ear drums or the painfull shot from the nurses syringe.
