    Tinnitus Gone

Hi! Yes, it felt a bit loud at first. I chose very calm cafes but not too calm... Certain noise caused spikes, it could be anything but I found no pattern in why so and so caused it. Especially our living room lamp. It was like it enhanced the tinnitus frequency and it got super shrieky - so...

    Tinnitus Gone

Hi! Hmm... Improvement of 30 seconds to 5-10 minutes of silence came within the first month, but all in all it took 5-6 months I think. It came September 2017 and I posted this thread March 2018 feeling pretty certain it was over. I'm sure it varies from person to person, but I tried working at...

    Tinnitus Gone

I've heard a lot about Valerian root. I never tried it but I think several things might help with tinnitus. The more research they do, the better, but I truly believe there's something to the focusing thing. The only problem is that it's a lot of work and with no help from the outside. My...

Hi. I saw in your post you wrote: 'I’m not talking habituation or almost gone. I’m talking dead silence, ears closed and not even a 1% of a sound or static, in a silent room. Pretty much back to where it once was.' To me it's gone, in dead silence, ears closed, it's not a 1% static. But in the...

Sorry for this extremely late reply. I also had the feeling that life was over. Absolutely debilitating. Yes, I did hear tinnitus when I went out. Inside, outside, didn't matter. I heard it everywhere.

Most of what I did is better explained in the thread I created :) but it was to practice focusing onto other sounds, not ignoring tinnitus, but to practice tuning in on other sounds 100%. It was very hard and I often quit. It took maybe 4-5 months until I noticed something changing but like I...

Have you tried pressing on my avatar/photo and press Start a conversation? Yes it's completely gone and has been since 2018. It took many months. There are no right or wrong in terms of how long it takes, so don't compare :) Just keep going. It didn't go away suddenly, but gradually. It didn't...

    Tinnitus Gone

I tried masking and apps with rainfall sounds, ocean sounds, etc but I remain a person who likes to have it silent around me when sleeping, even when I had tinnitus. I thought my brain will eventually fall asleep on its own at some point out of pure exhaustion and after a while I did manage to...

Hi Kotyn, that's great to hear. I also thought I wouldn't have silence until I was no longer alive. I think it's very hard for someone who hasn't experienced tinnitus to realise how debilitating this is. The exercises work, but remember the first experiences of silence will most likely go...

Hi Jonathan That's great to hear! I can't believe how people manage to stay focused or positive in terms of tinnitus (I was a mess), but I salute those people!

That's amazing!! Congratulations Virginia girl. I remember you! :) Spikes may come off your brain not being used to non-tinnitus periods. So when it then is "brought" back to your attention, it's in spikes. Can't say that for sure though. Regardless, keep on, and try your best not to measure the...

    Tinnitus Gone

Hi! I can relate 100%. It is pure hell and a completely claustrophobic feeling. I'm not sure whether habituate means to have gotten used to it, or that it's gone. For me it's gone, and I did that by trying intently for as much as I could to focus through tinnitus onto other sounds in order for...

How Do You Keep Your Job in the Beginning? I Cannot Work...

I had a somewhat understanding manager but her husband had tinnitus as well, and he was still working fulltime so I'm not sure if I dealt with tinnitus in a particularly bad way as I couldn't function for work. I ended up losing the job. The job after that was more 'on my terms', I felt, because...

Why Can Birds Restore Their Hearing Yet We Cannot?

I wonder if it's true that crows has a high intelligence and remember the people who feed them? I try to befriend a crow in the yard and try to show him/her that I want to build a bond  haha

Theory of Everything... for Tinnitus: Thalamocortical Dysrhythmia

I've read in an article that the sound of tinnitus itself is not the problem, but electrochemical reactions in different parts of the brain which increase the attention level to said reaction. A sound who might be going unnoticed in the brain will be experienced as strong due to the triggering...

    Tinnitus Gone

Hello KVfitpro :) No, I didn't have a counselor, but did reach out to people who might be able to help me or who had already succeeded in their attempts to recover from tinnitus. I got away from forums completely because anything reminding me of tinnitus as a lifelong thing made me want to die...

    Tinnitus Gone

I never had a real feeling of it fading, but after a while of ignoring it would still come back, but then at a lower volume, yes. In general I suggest not keeping track of tinnitus fading or increasing, but to just ignore it all the same :) The tinnitus shouldn't be given an ounce of attention.

Are you? Cool! How promising that you notice improvements already. It could either be a genuine physical damage or just stress. Along with my tinnitus I had auditory hallucinations as well, probably due to lack of sleep, and thought I was going insane at one point. The researcher, and the...

    Tinnitus Gone

Hi! I'm so glad it gives you hope! I still don't know the exact reason for the tinnitus, as both stress and loud volume on music was part of my life at that moment. I couldn't manipulate the sound in any way. I've heard of your type of tinnitus. Going to a reflexologist might be beneficial, it...

    Tinnitus Gone

I'd say three-four months. But during this process I've learned of many other people who may not be active on forums, but who've had tinnitus for years even and still been able to habituate (if that's the word?). So the length of it itself shouldn't matter. I read somewhere that if you have...

Hi everyone This is a recovery post as I am completely rid of my tinnitus. I've hesitated to even log on to the forums again, as I feel very done with everything tinnitus related... But I knew that when I got well, I wanted to share it - because the rare stories of recovery was what kept me...
