Ready to Give Up... Reactive Tinnitus Killing Me

@Ed209 your description of tinnitus is mine exactly! To the t lol. When did you reach the moment you knew you’d make it through this. When life wouldn’t be over? When life could still be good despite the constant noise? If someone told me I’d be happy whether or not it stayed or went and they...

Ready to Give Up... Reactive Tinnitus Killing Me

@Kelvin thank you for your kindness. I desperately need tinnitus talk and the support I find here. I wish I could go for walks or do anything like listen to music and just ignore the tinnitus for an hour or so but it’s just this hideous high pitch searing sound between my ears when I am around...

Ready to Give Up... Reactive Tinnitus Killing Me

@jjflyman thank you for your support. When I read these kinda of stories I become so hopeful but then my mind tells me I am the exception and I will be suffering the same forever. If I could just tell my mind and body to stop reacting that’d be so wonderful. Unfortunately I had a major setback...

Ready to Give Up... Reactive Tinnitus Killing Me

@Tonny can you describe the way in which your reactive tinnitus reacted this first time for those two years? Was it a noise you hear around other sounds or certain frequencies or was it your normal tonal sound getting louder around other sounds. How did you get tinnitus the first time and...

Tinnitus Classification for the General Public

@Ed209 it sounds like you are on good terms with your tinnitus these days. Is it severe tinnitus? I think our ability to cope and past anxiety, trauma, and likeliness to develop depression or have depression regardless of tinnitus plays a role in habituation as well. My tonal tinnitus can be...

Tinnitus Classification for the General Public

Haven’t read any replies on this thread. I’m level 3. And sometimes I get pissed that people who had tinnitus for a month share their story of deep dark depression, then one day it’s gone and life’s good. Ugh. I'm so bitter and angry. This is NOT me. I’m a yoga teacher for goodness sake's!

Can Tinnitus Be Made Permanent by Just Thinking About It?

When I lost 50 dB of hearing in my left ear I went five days without hearing out of that left ear until I googled symptoms of hearing loss, saw tinnitus was one of them, looked up tinnitus and within 5 seconds I started hearing a loud roaring in my ear. I think had I never googled I’d never...

@TLion thank you for sharing the sound video with me. That shhhsshhhh sound is exactly what my reactive tinnitus sounds like. I hate it. @TLion how do you do it? I’m on the brink of tears constantly. I think about suicide daily but then I see my beautiful daughter and couldn’t imagine leaving her without a mom. How do I live my life this way? I’m sorry you’re suffering too.

Ready to Give Up... Reactive Tinnitus Killing Me

@Jack Straw it's a very high pitched sssssss sound as if jumper cables were hooked up to both ears. It appears when I drive my car, put on white noise, refrigerator, walking outside which kills me because I can’t even enjoy being outside. I have in my left ear an intermittent high pitch static...

When Did Your Anxiety and Panic Attacks Stop?

Even on Ativan I have severe panic attacks. When did your panic attacks subside? Having a huge set back. At 5 months in was finally off the Ativan. Huge setback with grommets. Now I am sick all day long with worry. Fear. Depression. Concerns. Afraid the tinnitus will kill me.

Did Antidepressants Help You to Habituate?

I’m worried I will never get used to this reactive high pitched tinnitus. I only get a break from it in the shower. I feel sick. I wake up and I could vomit from all the anxiety. When will the anxiety go?

Did Antidepressants Help You to Habituate?

I think my problem is that I have incredibly terrible anxiety and depression and can’t relax ever to get used to my tinnitus. Please keep this post positive and a safe space for those of us in a fragile state of mind right now.

    Here’s Hope

@Kazue this is a great story! I’m really struggling with high pitched reactive tinnitus which I can hear everywhere. I’m worried I’ll never habituate. When did you notice your tinnitus getting better? I’m 9 months in but after an ear surgery my mild tinnitus is now severe tinnitus.

2 Weeks in 20-30 dB Environment with Moderate Tinnitus Caused by a Spike

I’ve had tinnitus now for 6 months. It took me 4 months to be able to be in a silent environment. In silence my tinnitus sounded like a 2/10 with a lot of head noise and pure tones. 30 dB, speech, tv on low, refrigerator turning on could mask it easily, however when it was masked I’d have a...

    Avoid Silence or Seek Silence?

Before my spike I would make an effort to keep my house silent because noises just made my tinnitus louder. Now it doesn't matter, I hear it with noise on or off so what the hell. In anxiety mode so I have been masking but again I still hear tinnitus so seems dumb to me.
