Reduced Tinnitus with Intravenous NAD+ "Brain Reboot"

Hi all, Just an update for me (read my previous posts if interested) - onset tinnitus around June or July 2018 during intense heatwave. I've come across something which some of you may find useful. Last week, I thought I'd try an intravenous NAD+ "Brain Reboot" treatment, for general...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

Quick update, 3 months in. Tinnitus is generally around a 1 or 2, and the tone seems to have mellowed slightly. It's hard to tell exactly. If I had to guess, I think it's got 10% or so better since I last posted here... so I think very slow progress. I also think some degree of habituation has...

Since Getting Tinnitus, Also Noticing a Marked Increase in Fleeting Tinnitus

I first got tinnitus three months ago. Since then I've had some brief periods of near-silence as well as some nasty spikes. Over the past month I've noticed a definite increase in instances of fleeting tinnitus. I mean the kind everyone gets, where I'll have a much louder tinnitus spike for 10...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

I used some masking music - singing bowls - for one or two nights only. Much of the time I’ve been trying to stay within the quietest environment possible - no tv or radio or music of any kind. I wanted my brain to try to get used to the T sound in the hope it would learn to tune it out. My...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

Yes, my GP referred me to an audiologist, but I decided not to go along simply because any time I tried listening to tinnitus-like high frequencies on YouTube videos, or using hearing test apps, it hurt my ears and most definitely seemed to spike the T for hours afterwards. I decided to go my...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

Update: 5 sessions of HBOT under the belt - today was first medium pressure day. It gets really hot in the chamber - unpleasant! Also two days left tapering off prednisone - will take 20mg and 10mg. Yesterday afternoon I had an Indian head massage and a full body massage. The head massage...

I'm New Here — Worried About My Tinnitus

I’m pretty new here but I’ve done a lot of reading. I believe your best bet would be to buy N-AC (N-acetylcysteine) and start taking it today. You may just be having a spike (would affect non-T people as well in the situation you describe), so this may settle down to your usual levels in a few...

Icing My Ear Seems to Reduce Spikes

I see what you mean - what I’m suggesting is that inflammation affecting the auditory nerve or cochlea or surrounding tissues will naturally be processed differently by the brain, yet in theory the problem ought to be managed by reducing the inflammation at source. It’s probably different when...

Icing My Ear Seems to Reduce Spikes

At least in some cases the root cause is in ongoing issues in the ear or surrounding tissues - particularly in somatic/ETD/TMJ/inflammation etc-related cases. Like mine - hence the reason the ice makes a difference I’d assume. Noise-induced T may be solely in the brain because it generates the...

Icing My Ear Seems to Reduce Spikes

Hi all, just an observation which may be useful to some of you (my theory is that this may not help so much with noise-induced tinnitus, but may be worth a try anyway): When I have a spike in tinnitus, if I hold an ice pack / bag of frozen peas against my ear for as little as 5 minutes, it...

    Coming Into New Awareness

Hi Portalnaut, I'm new here (T past couple of weeks) and I just read your thread. I'm curious - if you think back to before you knew you had T, what did a completely quiet room sound like to you? I think I always been able to detect something very faint going on even in a completely quiet room...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

Booked in for hyperbaric therapy tomorrow, Thursday and Fri. Then next week from Monday onwards as well. It's not one of the single-person tanks, but a chamber which can accommodate up to 6 people. Will see how it goes. I've also been taking prednisone for two days - 30mg on day 1, and 40mg on...

    Hello Everyone

Some TMJ issues here as well. I think if you can get the TMJ under control then the T should diminish substantially. I would question this. Whether or not you have hearing loss - and there's no particular reason you should - the prednisone will be useful for its anti-inflammatory properties...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

No - I never listen to headphones or earphones... I was never able to run with earphones in particular as they would always fall out of my ear.

    Hello Everyone

I haven't considered anti-anxiety meds or sleeping aids per se, but next on my list is Ginko Biloba, which also seems to help some people. Have fun with the dogs! They'll definitely help to take your mind off it for a while :)

    Hello Everyone

Get some prednisone asap I think. It should take the edge off, and since yours sounds like it's inflammation-induced, it could even permanently reduce the T from what I've been reading. In terms of masking sounds, I've found the best to be Tibetan singing bowls. You should be able to find a few...

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

Yes, I heard that it needed to be done asap... I guess I'll look into that as well then. However, mine was not noise trauma - related. More inflammation-induced I think. Not sure if that makes a difference.

    Tinnitus Since 21st July

I'm 41 and live in the UK. A bit of background first: I'm keen on running/fitness. The weather in the UK the past couple of weeks has been crazy. Very hot for the time of year and fairly relentless. I don't cope well with the heat. This has inspired me to go running at crazy hours (as late as...

    Hello Everyone

Hi Laurence, my tinnitus started a few days before yours did, around 21st July. Like you, I'm keen on exercise (running though, not cycling). I'm also low body fat with a low resting heart rate and low blood pressure etc. I'm 41 and I live in the UK. Take a read of my intro thread if you want...
