Sitting with the Sound, or Masking It?

I masked and avoided the noise as much as I could for the first few months, but I eventually got tired of "running away" from it. (I've had T for nearly six months.) When I'm at home sitting around or trying to sleep, I turn on the TV/music/white noise to a volume where I can hear both my T and...

Loudest Noise You Have Experienced Which Did NOT Result in Your Tinnitus Spiking?

A subway horn blasted RIGHT as it passed me on the platform. It was underground, entering the tunnel, so the sound amplified. I covered my ears as soon as I heard it, but I thought for sure I was screwed. To give you an idea of how loud it is, I can usually hear it when I'm above ground, more...

Poll: How Often Do You Hear Your Tinnitus in Your Dreams?

I don't think I actually hear it while I sleep, but tinmitus itself has been the subject of many dreams. I've been having anxiety dreams since long before I acquired this, so it doesn't surprise me that my subxonacious would latch on to something that has brought me so much stress.

    The Positivity Thread

I had several consecutive low-anxiety days laat week. My T was quieter (either that or it bothered me much less.) I've now had just as many bad days where I feel anxious and it seems more intrusive, but I'm handling it slightly better than I did when this began a few months ago. So I hope I'm...

    ETD — Need Advice/Information

Hi! It's definitely a frustrating condition. In addition to the steroid nasal spray and antihistamine, "steaming" (boiling water, then sitting in front of it with a towel covering your head and the bowl) can be helpful, at least temporarily.

    Ear Twitches/Thumps When I Talk?!

This has been going on for a while but is happening more frequently lately. When I talk, or even just smile sometines, something inside my ears (mostly my left ear) reacts; it kind of twitches and makes a "thump" sound. It feels like something in there is quickly expanding and contracting, or...

    Tinnitus' Impact on Social Life

Nobody used to invite me to loud events, now within the past few months since I got T I've had to turn down at least four or five invitations to bars/concerts. Each time I politely declined, explained why and suggested doing something else. Then I get asked again a week later.

Is It Normal to Feel This Way When Wearing Earplugs? Uncomfortable Pressure on Eardrum

I'm not sure of the answer, but I empathize! Every time I wear foam earplugs, my ears feel irritated for the rest of the day and my T spikes. And I know it's not because of loud noise since I often wear earplugs to places that aren't overly loud but could be at any second, like the grocery...

My Tinnitus May Not Be Noise-Induced — I Have TMJ and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

It seems like we have really similar symptoms. I'm on Anamys (called Flonase here), too. I hope you have a better experience! It's supposed to take several days to reach its full effect. I've been taking Sudafed religiously for three weeks to see if anything improves. I've found that inhaling...

My Tinnitus May Not Be Noise-Induced — I Have TMJ and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

I was diagnosed with ETD and I have jaw issues that I suspect is TMJ; I have a doctor's appointment next month to talk about it since my ENT visit last month was a joke. How are you treating the ETD and TMJ? I have been taking Flonase and other allergy meds for two months with no real improvement.

    Upsetting ENT Visit

He looked into my ears and up my nose with a small scope, but he didn't use a camera to see my tubes, so he must have diagnosed it based on my symptoms. He said one of my ear drums is retracted, which I assume is from the pressure issues. I know doctors can't tell me if/when this will improve...

    Upsetting ENT Visit

I've read about those sinus-clearing methods, too, breatbing in steam is helpful and soothing, at least temporarily! Health anxiety is a big problem for me. I've been having a hard time relaxing/not feeling panicky since this began, which is also causing me to clench and grind my teeth as well...

    Upsetting ENT Visit

Hi! I developed tinmitus a month and a half ago in conjunction witb a feeling of pressure/pain in my ears that varies in intensity. The ringing is often mild but can get louder at times. Ssme days are better than others. My allergies/sinuses are exacerbating the issue. So, after six weeks of...
