I had the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday 28 February. No effect on tinnitus or hyperacusis. Phew!

I'm still on the Sertraline. I have been for 2 years but I don't take anything specifically for the tinnitus anymore. It took me about 12 months to realise the only thing that seemed to send my tinnitus crazy was noise so I live as quiet a life as possible.

Hi Vicki, things will improve, it just takes a long time but hang in there. I'm 2 years in and I've gone from very much feeling like you are now to generally enjoying life again.

Hang in there my friend, at 3-4 months mine seemed to be getting louder and louder. I didn't see any progress until the 12 month mark, now 2 years on and it's still improving ever so slowly.

@Bartoli you could try a windproof skull cap under your helmet, if you wear one? I tried the Helmet Angel things but they were rubbish so started wearing a beanie hat and that really minimised the wind noise but couldn't comfortably fit a helmet over it.

I've just bought a Karcher jet wash for my son to use, no way I could cope with the noise those things make. Had a look at the technical specs and it's 90dB but no mention in any of the safety advice of wearing hearing protection, really surprised me. I'll advise my son to wear hearing...

Hi Michael, that's fair enough, I think my comment was borne of the frustration of a condition very few people seem to understand. Thank you for the support and understanding you give on this forum.

How is it possible for an audiologist not to have some basic knowledge about hyperacusis? We need an information sheet to educate them!

Nicely put jazzer, I always find your posts reassuring and calming, God knows we need some of that on this crazy journey. Finding peace with a head full of noise, I never thought it was possible but very slowly I'm beginning to get a glimpse.

No probs at all Steph, try to stay calm and relax, I know that's easier said than done! Things will improve, it's very early days. Getting over the panic stage is the first step but you'll get there it just takes time. Good luck x

Hi ,I got some Joe young winter ear muffs off Amazon, wear them over a hat, they fold up really compact and when I go walking the dogs in high winds just pop them on and really make a difference, they're comfy as well, hope this helps.

I saw the poster for the remake of It and was more scared of the balloon than the clown!

The surprise came when I had a hearing aid fitted and everything seemed super loud. The audiologist explained that was what I should normally be hearing. Thankfully it helped quieten the tinnitus for which I am ever grateful.

I would push to at least be allowed to try them, if your healthcare system won't provide them maybe try a high street chain who do free trials? Then if it did help you could go back and tell your ent ?
