    I Beat Tinnitus — A Beginner’s Primer

So you’ve got tinnitus. One of three things will happen: 1. It will go away. 2. You’ll stop caring. 3. You’ll discover you have an anxiety disorder. When I got tinnitus, it brought my quality of life down close to zero for several months and bothered me for more than a year after that. As a...

Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery After 2 Years (Not Habituation)

Thanks for this story, just about everything you wrote perfectly describes my situation, minus the tinnitus going away part. Will use this to stay optimistic.

    My Idiotic Tinnitus Story

That really sucks. As others have said, no point wishing we could turn back time.

    My Idiotic Tinnitus Story

I can empathize with the frustration. Thanks for sharing your story. Hopefully the tinnitus will go back to pre-bandaoke levels, or at least your ease of coping with it will.

    My Idiotic Tinnitus Story

Not too loud but enough that it sometimes makes falling asleep difficult (or rather, my frustration with it can get me riled up while I'm trying to sleep). It is mostly a high-pitched hiss that seems steady in both ears. If I cover my ears then I hear some ringing.

    My Idiotic Tinnitus Story

Yeah exactly. What really frustrates me is I was always the one wearing earplugs at band practices, concerts etc when almost noone else did. But wallowing in regret is pointless. I think the tinnitus has improved somewhat but it is difficult to tell. I remember earlier on hearing a distinct...

5 Months of Tinnitus and Now I'm Here for Help

Indeed and I would never try to minimize other people's experiences. Also as I said, psychological conditions are equally as real as physical conditions. Severe pain can happen with no discernible physical cause, that makes it no less painful. There was a case of someone who ended his life...

5 Months of Tinnitus and Now I'm Here for Help

5 Months of Tinnitus and Now I'm Here for Help

Also about to turn 30 and got tinnitus around the same time as you. Good luck and stay positive. What's really helped me feel better - long-term sufferers of tinnitus almost all seem to have stopped giving a shit at some point, which is effectively like being healed.

5 Months of Tinnitus and Now I'm Here for Help

From what I've read, hyperacusis is in fact psychological (though psychological conditions should be considered equally as "real" as physical conditions). @Flyingsheep, I had some hyperacusis and I was freaking out thinking this was a sign that my tinnitus was worsening. After doing some...

    My Idiotic Tinnitus Story

I've had tinnitus now about four months. One thing that's really helped me cope has been reading people's accounts of the idiotic ways in which they got tinnitus. I've frustrated myself on so many occasions imagining going back in time, thinking with one quick decision I could have avoided...
