Tinnitus Spike Possibly from Taking Zoloft (Sertraline) or Withdrawal from It

Hello Everyone, It has been a long time since I posted here as my tinnitus got to a point where it stabilized and I was habituated to it. To the point where even when I did notice it or had a brief spike, I wasn't bothered. My current spike has only been going since two nights ago, and may be...

    Chit Chat and All That...

@Shera Well at least I can be happy that others are happy lol. Though there apparently exists a fanfic of Ranma that a guy who frequented the comic shop near me said "ends it perfectly." So I may have a great quest ahead of me when I get caught up in the manga. I'm not surprised that was your...

@aot @Shera My first game system was the OG playstation. Twisted Metal and Crash Bandicoot were what I mostly played. Oddly enough I got Gamecube before the N64 (which I got, for all things, Pokemon Stadium lol). The Cube is probably still my favorite system to this day. That would /maybe/...

    Chit Chat and All That...

@Shera I remember all the buzz around Inuyasha getting wrapped up in The Final Act. That was all because the manga artist wanted to do her I think 6th manga series and the publishers were like "Only if you finish either Inuyasha or Ranma 1/2" and she chose Inuyasha. As a fan of Ranma (as of a...

    Chit Chat and All That...

@Shera You say you saw Heroes in high school so I'd say we are! I was a sophomore when that first came out. I honestly wish our high school had a cool trading thing like that happening. I think trading video games was a thing, but I didn't have Playstation or Xbox at the time and that was the...

    Chit Chat and All That...

@Shera That is mad interesting. I feel like most kids either had cable or had a friend who had cable in my hood. You could maybe watch something at a sleepover if you couldn't watch it yourself but passing tapes around sounds way more social than even that, and fun tbh. Yeah that would be one...

@Labyrinthine That Iroh meme, man, I can't even imagine that guy committing war crimes. He legit seems like the type to sit the leader of the city he was about to invade down for tea and a game of Pai Sho and casually persuade them to just surrender without fighting.

@Shera Oh god Saturday Morning Cartoons (epic feels time lol). Were you into Cartoon Network as a kid when they had Cartoon Cartoon Fridays? And were you around for original Toonami? Those (and Nick) = Childhood lol That doesn't sound good...or healthy, unless I'm seeing too deeply into that...

@Shera When I was a kid I would rewatch movies a lot. I have Babe memorized and I know the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies like the back of my hand. I'd sneak downstairs on weekend mornings and try to get a movie in before my parents woke up lol. But these days I mostly go for watching new...

Turmeric with Curcumin Seems to Be Helping

@GlennS Ah, that's a shame. The only brand of turmeric I've tried (because it luckily worked) was Nature Made brand. I have a base level to my tinnitus and turmeric never takes me below it but it has helped with spikes.

Turmeric with Curcumin Seems to Be Helping

@GlennS, did you take prednisone at the start of your tinnitus and did it work? It's not a 1:1 but I tried turmeric because I saw a good number of people here who responded well to prednisone responded to turmeric too. Turmeric did help me get a spike down.

@Shera Interesting, I haven't rewatched things for years unless I'm watching it with someone else on their first time. Def let us know if RH3 is still a (n) Omg who would do that?! That reeks of "But Miss X, you forgot that we had homework last night" lmao. Oh nice, an actual campaign to stop...

@Shera, I don't remember disliking Rush Hour 3 but I definitely agree on Mummy 3. I loved the first two so much it was crummy to see it turn out how it did. Oh wow, is it an independent DVD store then? Must be, there's only like 1-3 Blockbusters left in the world lol. And geez VHS. I would...

    Chit Chat and All That...

@Shera Oh yeah, the second movie *very* loosely adapts the second half of the book. To the point where seeing the second movie really doesn't spoil the book. As I'm sure you know the 3rd movie was based on none of the book and it's existence is a crime against humanity ;). I agree, Disney...

@Shera Neverending Story is a great read! The first movie covers only the first half of the book (with some differences because there always is. Still love the movie itself though!) and the second half gets into some good, deep stuff. The New 52 is what got me into trying them out and I was...

@Shera What titles have you read in comics and books? Was very briefly into comics years ago; basic DC stuff mostly but a couple indies. Just finished re-reading The Neverending Story for the 3rd time and trying to decide which of the /unread/ books on my shelf I should read next lol.

One Year and One Month: Okay with Tinnitus

Hey Ya'll, As the title suggests, this is not a full blown success story in that the tinnitus went away, but I want to report that I am currently living with it pretty well. I first got tinnitus back in March of last year, and while it has predominantly been a high pitched ring in my right...

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

Piggybacking on FGG's comment, I work with a guy whose hobby has been stocks for many years and he's had some success. His advice to me is "you always wait until just before they release the Phase 3 trial data to buy." The idea being that if Phase 3 proves the product will work, people will...

Turmeric with Curcumin Seems to Be Helping

Tried this for the first time tonight. Bought myself Nature Made brand, since that was the highest rated brand at my drug store. I took less than half a dose just to make sure I don't easily experience the side effects. If that goes well I'll start taking it regularly and will report back if...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Hopefully so! I was just remembering that there are multiple mechanisms (or theorized mechanisms, including mechanisms in the brain) and that one drug or treatment may not be able to cure the tinnitus because it doesn't address them all. As you say, we don't know for sure. Which is why it's...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

If what I'm remembering is true, even if this solves your hearing loss completely, one's tinnitus could still theoretically stick around since it's "wired in" if you've had it chronically. But I guess we wouldn't know that for sure until Frequency has finished all of their testing. I do have...

Thank you. I'll take a look at their thread myself a bit later. Most of my focus has been on Lenire, for obvious reasons, but some have said in this thread that the other 2 devices coming are more promising. I'm right there with you in that I would like these devices widely available as soon...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

@Harley, I read elsewhere, I believe on the last couple pages of the University of Michigan thread, that her timeframe is 2020-2024 for her device and she's apparently been maintaining that stance since 2014, if I remember right. The 10 year timeframe should be in reference to all current...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Just realized a great hidden benefit of the device could be preventing new sounds developing. My dad has been helping me cope with my tinnitus since he's had it for the last 2.5 years. His is quiet enough and/or he just got used to it enough he doesn't hear it unless someone reminds him...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Do you mean that theoretically something Lenire does could make it improbable/impossible for Shore's device to work on you? Or that you wouldn't be able to participate in a trial for Shore's device if you used Lenire first (or at the very least, you couldn't be one of the first people it is sold...

Foolishly Attended a Loud Concert 2 Weeks Ago, Now My Tinnitus Is Back. Will It Go Away Again?

@boliston @Mister Muso Count me in the group that went to a concert after getting tinnitus. I habituated (or at least felt content) within a month of the concert that first gave me tinnitus so I wasn't looking for support sites like this one (with its wealth of advice on protection and...

Poll: What Is Your Visual Snow and Tinnitus Like?

Currently don't have VS and didn't even know it existed until I saw a post in the Lenire thread mention it. I do have a floater or two that dip in and out of my vision for the past couple (few?) weeks. Most noticeably since my tinnitus spiked a bit. It's so strange (and yet kind of...

    Tinnitus for 2+ Months, Spiking

Thank you @billie48 for your kind message and advice. An update on my condition: Shortly after posting here I got set up with an ENT who has tinnitus and specializes in it. How Can I Live with Tinnitus for the Rest of My Life?

Hi Acute, I will agree with the others and say to avoid concerts or similarly loud environments. My T was doing pretty well and I made the mistake of (likely) retraumatizing my ear because I didn't give it the time to heal. I had thought it had healed, I felt fine, but I've learned in the short...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

It's possible some clinics in other countries will want to run this way but I honestly don't think they'll need to. Enough people, as evidenced in this thread, and myself included will make mistakes, get tinnitus again, and be back to pay again. Even without mistakes, any of us could be...

    Tinnitus for 2+ Months, Spiking

Thank you for your reply. Afraid to ask this but have to. If I did get a secondary trauma, will the new level I'm at still potentially go down or is it more likely to be permanent? And if it is more likely to be permanent, is there anything I can do?

    Tinnitus for 2+ Months, Spiking

Hey Everyone, I've been lurking on here for a little more than a week and want to introduce myself. I got my tinnitus in March of this year attending a loud metal concert with no hearing protection. I had been to similar shows before but I was not standing as close as this and was indoors for...
