@ZFire yeah sorry you can relate. taking them out is even worse, and a lot of time my ears throb for a while afterwards. there's no escape.

@Marshall yeah I've had a couple of dentists who had tinnitus from their job. I read an article that came out recently saying that earplugs should be part of dental PPE so I think it's an issue that is slowly gaining more attention

@kingsfan from what I've heard is that manual cleanings for noise sensitivity is a pretty common request so most dentists are used to it

@in_LA sorry just seeing this, but no. I mean, I'm not being rickrolled right now, but its been more or less consistent since it developed back in 2021. I don't mind it though so it doesn't bother me too much.

@KoolKat 90s were definitely the best time for raving.....at least we can watch on old youtube videos, though it's definitely not the same. hoping the rave scene comes back in a few years and we'll be able to enjoy it again

fucking thank you. I couldn't insert them properly--spent like 20 minutes in the bathroom before a show sobbing because I couldn't get them in--which is a big reason as to why I have tinnitus in the first place. they're also painful as hell.

@KoolKat yes ugh I wish I was older so I could have gone to 90s raves and punk shows lol. I only have a couple of hazy memories from that time. But yeah I was born in '98. Not super optimistic about getting my 20s back.....maybe in my middle age I'll be able to leave the house again.

@KoolKat Yeah NJ isn't too bad but the property taxes here are insane. Still cheaper than NYC/LI though

@KoolKat lol midtown has always been a crowded mess. I avoided it at all costs. LES now is very gentrified and overrun with bars and college kids. It's still fun, but I know it's not the same as it was which sucks.

@KoolKat yeah I feel that. It's pathetic to say I peaked in middle school/high school but it's true. I had problems but I knew they would go away. Now I'm saddled for the rest of my life.

@KoolKat lol I was a baby when Daria was on air but that's cool as hell that you were able to watch it back then! I definitely wish I was an older kid in the late 90s/early 2000s. NYC was a lot different (and better in some respects) back then too. I hope you find some relief one day.

@KoolKat It also sucks comparing myself to my friends. Got H right after I graduated college. Last summer they travelled to Europe together and have new, exciting jobs and opportunities. I stayed home in my room because of my ears.

@KoolKat Yeah I can relate to an extent even though I'm an only child. I was the only kid on my dad's side for a while so whenever my parents visit family they always want to know what's going on with me. I haven't seen my younger cousins in over five years because of this. It's very isolating.

was in the LES before having to move back home to the suburbs of NJ due to hyperacusis. I know your pain. I'd give anything to walk down those streets again.

do you *have* to wear headphones? like is necessary for the work you do? I worked a retail gig and they wanted us to wear headphones but I just didn't. no one said anything to me about it.
