Muffs definitely makes driving worse. It does seem like they trap the sound. Assuming they are moderate strength plugs, you should be in a 50 to 60ish decibel environment while driving with them on. I don't see how this can still cause spikes.

The post you are referring to was measured with a phone dB meter. I purchased a professional one and it remeasured to 105 dB. ENT told me to take an antihistamine and get my jaw looked at by a dentist. I've had my hyperacusis measured at 60 dB. Hence why something in the 80s range "hurts" my ears.

The surgery is reversible. My ENT confirmed this to me. The doctor that invited the surgery was his mentor. I asked him this question specifically and he confirmed that it is in fact reversible. (I don't have the surgery).

Well I don't see why they wouldn't be able too. Regardless, just because you age does not mean you will develop high frequency tinnitus.

Tinnitus is the biggest untapped market there is. It's essentially a giant oil field waiting to be tapped. Whoever figures out the slightest way to lower the tone at at least even 50% is looking to make BILLIONS. Whether it be through a drug, treatment, or procedure.
