Nocturnal Tinnitus: I Need to Find People Like Me

Greg, thank you so much for your reply. I do have hypothyroidism and take medicine for it. Time for a re-check? Maybe so! At 56, I am perimenopausal and take bio-identical hormones. Time for a re-check? Maybe so! The tinnitus appeared suddenly, unilaterally, at age 54. It has progressed to...

Nocturnal Tinnitus: I Need to Find People Like Me

Thank you for your kind reply. I do not know another way to describe this besides "nocturnal". I live in the south where the cicadas and the tree frogs are LOUD. I mean, L.O.U.D. :) and so, the bedroom is not a quiet place until winter. The tinnitus I experience is just so qualitatively...

Nocturnal Tinnitus: I Need to Find People Like Me

Hello, I very much need to find people who experience tinnitus the way I do. At night, while sleeping, it gets super loud, all over head ringing, or mainly unilateral super loud, or sometimes bi-lateral super loud. A high-pitched hiss, tonal tinnitus. In the morning, as I wake, it subsides...

A Half Pint of Neat Whiskey Makes My Tinnitus Go Away, Allowing for a Night's Sleep

Alcohol lowers blood sugar. I would research that. Start monitoring your blood sugar and insulin levels and see if there is a metabolic imbalance and if it correlates with the tinnitus spikes.

Why Does Tinnitus Spike During the Night and Go Way Down After Being Awake a While?

Rajin, did you read into my query an ungrateful heart or high anxiety? Because gratitude happens to be the most powerful force in the universe and I lean on it every moment. As far as relaxing... well... I have good days and bad, good moments and bad, just like anyone else with this condition...

Why Does Tinnitus Spike During the Night and Go Way Down After Being Awake a While?

Thank you both. That helps normalize this experience for me. Sometimes is it indeed spiking throughout the day and strangely enough, red wine makes it go far away... only for a few hours. I am guessing alcohol affects everyone differently... I only drink about 12-16 ounces of low alcohol...

Why Does Tinnitus Spike During the Night and Go Way Down After Being Awake a While?

Hello, I have had tinnitus for the last 20 months. It is not hearing loss based or acoustic trauma induced. I think it is hormonal as I am menopausal. It started out unilaterally and became bilateral just within the last few months. My question is this: In the evening when I start to relax...

What the Hell Is Happening to Me? Stopped Drinking Alcohol and Got Ringing...

Following up to this thread: can we get an update on everyone who posted here? Also... what do you think the answer is? Stay completely off alcohol and hope the rebalancing occurs or continuing drinking in small amounts to try to ward off it getting worse? Thank you for your help.

Unilateral Non-Pulsatile High Frequency Tinnitus with NO Hearing Loss: Some Questions

Hello, I am a 54 year old, happily married female, who decided to quit drinking the 3 glasses of red wine I was drinking with dinner, every night, for a several years. When I realized how bad alcohol really is for us, even fancy red wine, I stopped, cold, on January 1st. I had ZERO withdrawal...
