    Poetry

I don't give out this personal poem often, but I might as well stop holding onto it as I have for years. Maybe it'll help someone. Or, if I'm gone someday, a piece of me will not be locked away forever :) “I live with entire universes inside of me” - a poem by me I live with entire universes...

    Suicidal

How many times have I posted to this thread in the last 10 years? Another bout of hearing loss and more tinnitus despite protection. It just amazes me that a) I can't go a year without losing hearing and b) normal sounds that are non-damaging seem to cause me hearing loss... Truly it does feel...

Be Honest. Do You Still Enjoy Life?

Eh, there's a lot of people who don't get to enjoy their short time here, as dismal as it sounds. We like to ask "Why me?" when really the answer is "Why not us?" There is nothing special about anyone in the end. Everyone is susceptible to get whacked with a disability. If it doesn't happen...

You sound like me. :huganimation: All the evidence from birth till now has proven that I really wasn't SUPPOSED to be here. I was never actually supposed to even make it out of the womb or be created in the first place. But somehow, I am here. I sometimes genuinely hopeful it means that I'm here...

Best Guess on When Tinnitus Will Be Cured?

I think when we are in pain, or suffering, we all sometimes become a bit of a pain in the arse. That's why it is so important for human beings to have empathy, apologize when we need to, and give each other as much grace as we can.

Are You Some Form of Neurodivergent?

Yeah. I feel like my other symptoms just make dealing with severe tinnitus worse. Funnily enough, I did some researching a while back and found that with Autism and ADHD, the potassium channels and such (kinda like the ones that are supposedly whacky for tinnitus) are also somewhat messed up...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Yes, but also no. AI/AGI will only have as much intelligence as humans do to start out with. And even the smartest of us as humans have limited knowledge. We STILL do not understand even a tenth of what there is to know about the human brain. AI can scale up the research but they can only work...

Are You Some Form of Neurodivergent?

First off, what does neurodivergent mean? So it's all one big umbrella really. I've also been wondering if there is a sort of link between tinnitus and neurodivergence (aside from the obvious ones where some people on the spectrum have sensory processing disorder or sound sensitivity)...

    Sleep Paralysis

I have had a lot of sleep paralysis in the last couple of years. Luckily I had heard of it before they started happening and when I feel it happening, I make sure to never open my eyes. I don't want to see the hallucinations when I'm already feeling/hearing them lol.

Back for Support — In the Depths of Despair with Worsening Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

Usually I only get the feedback during audiology tests because they give pure tones for the most part. I can't tell you what tones those are but maybe I can get my audiologist to give me a copy of my next hearing test. My hearing loss is soooooooo bad. I'm amazed I can still hear speech.

Back for Support — In the Depths of Despair with Worsening Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

I had that experience with my audiology test and my audiologist said it is likely feedback from damaged hair cells. The sound hits them and because they are damaged they make a sort of feedback noise. So likely you have some hair cells in your cochlea there that are already damaged :(

I take 4-5mg of prednisone on days my ETD acts up and causes fluid buildup in my ears (which makes these horrible squeaks and shrieks sound off in one of my ears). It kinda decreases the inflammation enough so that the fluid can start draining out and I can have some peace.
