I too have been going through this and told generally the same. Got a nasty ear infection in January after a weird bad flu and it caused ETD and tinnitus. I also did Prednisone, 3 rounds. It helped lessen the inflammation, but didn't solve the tinnitus. The ENT I saw also didn't seem concerned...
