Really?! Huh. In all my reading about her and listening to her, I never knew that. I like knowing she has some skin in the game and it makes even more sense that she would be super, extra rigorous about trial design, analysis, and not over-sharing before peer review.

The efficacy of the device appears derived, in part, from the precise timing between the sound and electrical stimulation. I’m guessing the sham portion of the trial likely altered that timing. The interval is so short (in milliseconds) that I doubt anyone would be able to notice the difference.

That’s a good point. Precision appears to be the name of the game with the device and so it makes sense that they wouldn’t leave pitch matching and calibration up to the end user.
