My eardrums were healthy. You can have ETD with healthy eardrums - mine are fine for example. The test was offered first thing with my private ETD - didn’t have to ask. Definitely look for a different private hospital in that case! It was around £100-200 I believe for the test and initial...
Yep - I regularly feel soreness and movement in my affected ear - like a living piece of clay. I’m convinced it’s just stubbornly inflammed tissue - it’s just difficult to “get at” and treat due to the skull being in the way.
Darn skull :S
Yeah, I wouldn’t waste your time with the NHS. You wait for months for a 5 minute phone call - never even met my NHS ENT. Go private if possible. My private ENT did a ear pressure test last year - confirmed the pressure was off, etc.
(My NHS ENT even told me ETD does not cause tinnitus! My...
Tinnitus is one of the worst. But it makes other bad things seem...less bad by comparison. Not as important to worry about or get scared over. It’s difficult (not impossible, but difficult) to ‘up the ante’.
@asey20 Unfortunately, I'm not sure what exact model it was. It was shiny and gleaming, so my brain equated that to "new", rather than the grey industrial block of metal I was expecting :S
High frequency static is what I had during and after my middle ear infection. It seems to be the norm with infection and ETD caused tinnitus (based on a dozen cases I read by this point). Sorry for your double infection :(
There's still movement in my E tube - i.e. tissue randomly sliding around, spasms, etc - BUT it's a lot less aggressive than before the operation. It kind of feels like my head is full of marshmallows. (Now I hope natural healing will solve the rest of the problem.)
Sorry for the delay - I’ll try my best, but I’m obviously not an ENT / medical practitioner.
My answers are based on my opinion and experience with ETD and I am a sample size of 1 person.
My ETD was caused by a middle ear infection and what I believe is swollen E tube tissue, not mucus or the...
It’s not terrible; it seems to come and go :o
That’s horrible Steph - I’m sorry :( I really hope it’s a just passing thing and it will go away soon ;)
Yes, thanks - the T does seem less “relentlessly” aggressive compared to before the operation. Sleep is easier. Just gotta keep watching and...
Hi JYD,
I've had what I believe to be ETD for 7 1/2 months - so I might be able to help you narrow it down.
Was it wet in the sense that the 'exterior' of your ear had leakage, or does the interior of your head feels wet inside?
Does your Eustachian tube hurt or feel swollen?
Is there any...
Subnautica - quite possibly the best aquatic game in existence.
You will be afraid to go to greater depths though :bag: I was!
Please Note: Leviathans in mirror are closer than they appear.
'Eustachian tube balloon dilation'. Some of my teeth hurt from where they presumably bit into the pipe that was in my mouth - supplying good old' oxygen.
