Vitamin Supplement (Nicotinamide Riboside) Successfully Prevents Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

A recent article, however I'm not sure if it really disproves NR, because it focused on high cholesterol and diabetes: https://www.nmn.com/news/nr-mitochondrial-function-nad-human-skeletal-muscle

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

Sulforaphane degrades very quickly. Our bodies produce and regulate NAC, Sulforaphane apparently increases production. However I now don't think it's worth doing, just a small amount of NAC is enough.

Medication to Mitigate Suicidal Ideation from Severe Tinnitus?

Use masking noises when you go to sleep, it reduces the panic attacks at night. The best level is to put the volume just below the tinnitus.

    Be Careful with Benzos

Yes! This is a very good point. It's very important to taper because of this. Whenever you go through a hard withdrawal from these drugs, a "kindling" phenomena occurs where the next withdrawal can be worse, and this kindling effect can escalate into causing seizures and even death, so it is...

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

The big question is, when people experience a Tinnitus "spike" which they attribute to medication not listed as ototoxic, is that medication causing damage to the cochlear or is the medication affecting neurology causing the tinnitus to be sensed.

Is There Any Scientific Evidence Showing How Long It Takes for Tinnitus / Hearing Issues to Recover?

I think what's going on is, when they are looking for clinical SSHL, I believe the criteria is for loss above 20dB. I have also read they look for an assymetrical of 15dB or more. You didn't satisfy the criteria, therefore you weren't diagnosed with SSHL. Another thing is they often seem to...

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

It's an interesting theory, it explains why TRT works, could explain why some drugs are ototoxic and other drugs can increase tinnitus yet not be ototoxic. But I thought the prevailing view here is that tinnitus is caused by hearing loss?

Is There Any Scientific Evidence Showing How Long It Takes for Tinnitus / Hearing Issues to Recover?

It's not "clinical" hearing loss because it's at or below 20dB. I suspect that's why your ENT said "good thing, we can rule out sudden hearing loss".

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

I've not read any theories like this. Is it possible you misunderstood them?

Tinnitus of Unknown Cause (Stress? Sertraline? TMJ?) for 5 Months — Deeply Hopeless

I'll try answer this, others may try correct me. There are medications which have tinnitus as a side effect, and there are ototoxic medications that damage hearing, usually the cochlear. Sertraline has tinnitus listed as a side effect, plenty of medications do. However, I've not read anything...

Waking Up to a Panic Attack 30 Minutes After Going to Sleep

Interesting, but did you have a spike in Tinnitus before you read online about Viagra? It's sad to read of your relationship troubles. I think TRT might be something worth investigating, where they play white noise just below the tinnitus, this might relieve your anxiety.

Can Sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio) Make Your Tinnitus Worse?

Does anyone take Sildenafil? Does it effect your tinnitus or do you find it is okay? There aren't any good alternatives to PDE5 inhibitors, and Sildenafil has one of the shorter half lives.

Newbie Checking In with Questions: Is It Common for Tinnitus to Show Up for No Apparent Reason?

I should add to my comment that whilst I wrote "idiopathic", this should never discount that hearing protection should be used, and avoid headphones, loud concerts...etc when suffering from tinnitus.

    Noise-Induced Hyperacusis and "Reactive" / Sound-Sensitive Tinnitus 80% Gone

@Michael Leigh, thanks. Actually, I write in my avatar as "unknown" because for me, there is possibly a number of causes and I don't really know which one it is. My audiology report was okay, not perfect, but they said I had good hearing (0-15dB) to 14kHz. This is the first serious "spike"...

My audiologist recommended not to do this for some reason.

Newbie Checking In with Questions: Is It Common for Tinnitus to Show Up for No Apparent Reason?

I think the medical term is "idiopathic", and so the question might be "is idiopathic tinnitus common?", and I think the answer, particularly from the medical community, would be a resounding "YES". However, I would try getting a hearing test which tests above 8kHz - test 10kHz, 12kHz and 14kHz...

Someone Screamed in Front of Me — Now My 'Good' Ear Has Tinnitus Too

My Tinnitus Is Very Quiet in the Mornings — Then Gets Louder — Why?

I do wonder if this feature indicates possibility of improvement, I wonder that given the tinnitus quietens down, it should continually do so more often in future.

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

I went through 150g in something like 2-3 weeks. That was way too much, but it's easy to do. It recommends 1g a day.

How Long to Refrain from Antihistamines (Allegra) to Rule Ototoxicity as a Cause of Tinnitus?

Could the allergy itself be causing tinnitus? What frequency and decibel loss is the hearing loss?

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

I am finding some days are better than others, but my tinnitus is slowly improving and NAC could be one thing assisting in this. But I do caution against taking too much of it because I broke out in a chicken-pox like rash because I took too much.

Vitamin Supplement (Nicotinamide Riboside) Successfully Prevents Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

I am experiencing a similar thing regarding "ear clicking". I had my ears cleaned and then had an ear infection 6 months ago and took antibiotic ear drops. Afterward, I found there is a clicking noise in my ears when I blew my noise. I also had sore sides of my throat and sore ears. I...

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

Also just a comment, I find taking smaller doses of NAC more often during the day, e.g. during meals, is better than taking one large dose once a day. This less likely causes side effects like an upset stomach, and is more therapeutic as it more consistently remains in the bloodstream. Thoughts?

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

What do people think about taking glucoraphanin+myrosinase supplements, this then increases sulforaphane concentrations in the body, which activates NRF2 which then increases NAC production?

Someone Screamed in Front of Me — Now My 'Good' Ear Has Tinnitus Too

I take Nicotinamide Riboside as well, however it is expensive. It's a form of Vitamin B3, a NAD pre-cursor that is involved in DNA repair, it is thought to have anti-aging properties, and is reported to be of benefit to tinnitus and hearing but it is not an antioxidant like NAC - it's...

Someone Screamed in Front of Me — Now My 'Good' Ear Has Tinnitus Too

I buy NAC in powder form, the container recommends 1g a day, however other sites recommend 200mg-500mg, which is more in line with what I take. I got over-enthusiastic and was taking high doses, I experienced a histamine reaction, with a rash over my body, along with upset stomach. I think...

Someone Screamed in Front of Me — Now My 'Good' Ear Has Tinnitus Too

The other thing to do is take antioxidants. This isn't as clinical as cortesteroid treatment, but there is some indications that antioxidants can help. The big one to take is NAC - just don't take too much. Also ALCAR is often taken along with this. NAC has sulphur in it, it smells like...

Someone Screamed in Front of Me — Now My 'Good' Ear Has Tinnitus Too

I would go see your doctor, they will probably want another hearing test done. I think, ideally a course of cortesteroids should be prescribed as a preventative in this situation, so long a there are no other medical reasons not to. However I would expect a doctor would want to have evidence...

Annoying Head Tinnitus: A Symptom of Anxiety?

Is the tinnitus "in your head" high pitched bilateral tinnitus, over 8khz? I ask because higher pitched noises are more difficult for our auditory system to track the position of - a classic example is a high pitched fire alarm being difficult to isolate which room it is coming from.
