Have you tried Benadryl recently? I found that it helps me sleep through most of the night. It also knocked down my tinnitus to a tolerable level for the next day. The effects wore off after 24 hours, but it did give me a mental break. Possibly worth a shot?

I have not, but I live in the GTA as well (Mississauga) and am on the lookout for a good ENT for our issues, if such a person even exists around here.

Hopefully you actually get to see him and he takes an interest in you. Recent online reviews indicate that you might only get to see one of his students at the clinic and that even if he sees you, it might be short and abrupt. Good luck and let us know how the visit goes.

Things are getting worse...unable to sleep through the majority of the night because the silence is deafening

I don't work right now. I've tried Melatonin for the past two nights. It was great at getting me to sleep but then I woke up 2 hours later from the tinnitus and tossed and turned the rest of the night.

Wow, I thought I was being conservative by using the 3 mg since I saw 5 mg and 10 mg on sale. Thanks, I guess I can cut them in half. Although I wasn’t sluggish at all this morning even though the tinnitus kept me up most of the night. :(

I had no symptoms of anxiety or depression. The meds were prescribed to deal with chronic nerve pain. They helped a little temporarily, but at the cost of potentially permanent tinnitus. Not a trade off I would have made intentionally.

I looked at the link above and tricyclics are listed as causative. Once MES has been established, is there any chance that it will go away on its own? They do have a list of drugs that might be helpful but since antidepressants themselves are listed as potentially helpful, I’m very leery of...
