Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

I wouldn't worry about it. Just give yourself some time to relax and things should go back to the way it was before you were exposed to these sounds.

I was just referring to NIHL in general. They are definitely not running to the gun range afterwards, but I think the theory Chad presented is plausible.

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

It's all speculation. These are businesses trying to deliver a product into a market where there are no current therapeutic options. Stop acting entitled.
  11. D

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

This is incorrect. Outer hair cells are extremely delicate, and NIHL is indeed caused by exposure to loud noises over time, but also from very loud short sounds such as gunshots. We're not talking tens of years, we're talking seconds, minutes, and hours depending on the sound pressure level.

Tinnitus from Baby Screaming in Ear, Possibly Made Worse by Dental Work and Stress

If it's any consolation, steroids normally help restore some hearing with sudden hearing loss, and sometimes with noise-induced hearing loss. If some hair cells died after the acoustic trauma, they're not going to grow back by getting steroids.

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

Was the removal of the numbing stuff optional? Could it be different depending on what they are using as a numbing agent?
  38. D

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

Did they remove the numbing agent afterward? With suction?
  39. D

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

That's completely different. The "earwax softening stuff" normally gets washed out during syringing or a normal shower. With an intratympanic injection, you have a hole in your eardrum, and to my understanding, you need to avoid any liquid going into the middle ear until the eardrum heals.
  40. D

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

I'm guessing the numbing agent is on the eardrum itself? I can't imagine that any ENT would actually remove a numbing agent from the eardrum with a curette? Sounds unlikely considering the risks. Seems like suction might be the only way.

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

To my understanding, a theoretical improvement with FX-322 in audiograms would require complete damage to one of the hair cells around the frequency being measured during pure tone testing. Let's say the regrown hair cells are under or over 8 kHz. This should somewhat improve your word...

    Accuracy of Hearing Test (Audiogram)?

If these are the only frequencies you can find any hearing loss, then you have great hearing. Don't stress it!
  47. D

    Frequency Therapeutics — FX-345

I like the analogies, but they are of course naive and inaccurate. The brain is arguebly one of the most complex things in the universe. The understanding of tinnitus is mostly based around theories, so only the future will tell what actually happens when you restore hearing.
  48. D

    Frequency Therapeutics — FX-345

Maybe, maybe not. You are removing the brain from the equation though, but it's just speculation at this point. Hopefully time will tell.
  49. D

    Frequency Therapeutics — FX-345

Sadly, it could be a lot more complex than this. In my opinion, the extra gain from hearing aids help mask the tinnitus, just like listening to white noise or music. So not actually reducing it, just frequency masking, which in turn you would experience as a reduction. But maybe someone else...

    Neurotrophin 3 Regenerates Cochlear Synapses

    Neurotrophin 3 Regenerates Cochlear Synapses

Not really. Seems like certain solutions for regenerating hair cells/cochlea repair are inevitable at this point, so that's more of a when and not an if. But realistically, it could be decades away... Whether it has an effect on tinnitus or not, we don't know yet.
  52. D

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

I find it odd that they are not doing any audiogram measurements. I don't think regenerating hair cells for 10 kHz and up would really affect speech perception much. Maybe it would bring some clarity to the sound, but I can't imagine it would be much. Nonetheless, interesting results and could...

Tinnitus Worse from Using AirPods Pro / Further Worsening After Dentist Used Ultrasonic Drill

No problem, I get it. At the moment, my tinnitus (in both ears) is more in the background, so it doesn't bother me that much.
