    Parasym — tVNS Device

Since Dr. Shore’s device is still a couple of years away, I decided to try my luck with Parasym and ordered it. However, it seems I received a new, updated version of the device. There’s no mention of sound files for tinnitus anywhere on the website or in the minimal documentation that comes...

    Phenibut

Phenibut is really not a good idea. I’ve tried it once, and never before have I seen a substance where you get withdrawals after just using once! And that was a moderate dose. Never used it again after that.

Repeated Modified Nerve Blocks and Auditory and Non-Auditory Nerve Stimulation

I know it’s not much consolation , but I just wanted, like others, to add my thanks to all the people who took the risk of trying this. Very brave of you, and sorry it didn’t work. I wonder if one the reasons for such discrepancy in results is due to cultural factors (I think this was discussed...

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Lyrica is actually the brand name for another molecule: Pregabalin. Gabapentin and Pregabalin (created as an improved version of Gabapentin by the same lab) do have some similarities, but also some wildly different effects as well.

I can’t find where it is exactly, but I remember that earlier in this thread, someone here had a contact in Korea and had him do a search on various Korean forums, and they couldn’t find much... EDIT: I found it, it’s here : https://www.tinnitustalk.com/posts/641653/

Tinnitus After Going to a Loud Club / COVID-19 Infection

Michael, while I'm sure you have good intentions, your comments on headphones that I keep seeing everywhere the word is mentioned border on religious fanaticism at times, without any technical or scientific basis whatsoever. I'm not a religious person, so I believe in science and proofs and...

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Reviews and Experiences

To be fair, ACT and CBT shouldn't be put in the same bag as TRT. TRT was created and aimed squarely at tinnitus (and yes, habituating to the issue is absolutely not the same as solving the issue), while most other psychotherapies are aimed first at depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, etc... I...

Tinnitus After Going to a Loud Club / COVID-19 Infection

Technically, hearing aids do have speakers, otherwise they wouldn't be able to emit sound. Their acoustic/sound generating principle is the same as earbuds and regular headphones, except the speaker diameter is often the smallest of any type of headphones (and hearing aids ARE a type of headphones).

    Hearing Aids

I had the Phonak Audeo 70 on trial for a month. The audiologist customized it to compensate for the tiny frequency losses (the theory being that what would be insignificant losses for the majority of people, could be be more impactful on another small subset of people and trigger tinnitus), and...

Flare Audio Calmer — Does It Help Tinnitus?

I bought these a while ago. They do seem to take the edge of aggressive noises a bit when I'm outside in the street. They do nothing whatsoever for my tinnitus.

    Gabapentin (Neurontin)

I had nearly a month's course of Gabapentin prescribed by an ENT. No effect. Then another month's course of Carbamazepine, and it probably even made things a little worse. I'm seeing the ENT next week, but I think we've run out of things to try...

Should I Use White Noise to Mask My Buzz/Ring? Or Continue Listening to My Tinnitus?

I don't think that's true. Today, nearly 100% of the population uses earbuds or headphones on a regular basis, even if it's just to talk over the phone. In fact, I don't know anyone who doesn't, except maybe old retired people, who never use any smartphones. That would mean that 100% of the...

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

Unfortunately, no. I got to see finally an ENT a few weeks ago, he prescribed 7 days of 60 mg Prednisolone. It did absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, my tinnitus seems to be just increasing to almost deafening levels. I can hear it over police sirens in the street... I'm seeing him again next week...

    Pregabalin (Lyrica)

I’ve been taking Pregabaline regularly for almost 2 years for anxiety and insomnia. My tinnitus/hyperacusis is recent (2 weeks), and Pregabaline doesn’t lower it, but it does help me a bit with the additional stress that tinnitus is creating.

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

Hello. Basically, is Prednisone worth it for tinnitus that is NOT noise-induced? Everything I’ve searched here and in medical studies always refers to Prednisone being often successfully used for noise induced tinnitus or hearing loss, but never from other causes. Mine has a completely unknown...
