Johnson & Johnson's Hearing Loss Drug Discovery — Targeting α9α10 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

Yup. SBUTT is just the medical term for it. Maybe explore some facial exercises with a physio if it's causing you upset.

Johnson & Johnson's Hearing Loss Drug Discovery — Targeting α9α10 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

That's called Sudden Brief Unilateral Tapering Tinnitus (SBUTT) - and it appears to be related to facial muscular dysfunction. That's why it happens to almost everybody not just those with tinnitus. It might have increased in frequency with your H partially due to damage, but also due to a...

Dr. Drew's Loud Tinnitus Resolved Immediately After Taking Fluvoxamine

@Uklawyer, because he said that Dr. Drew mentioned that the "the tinnitus came back in a video he did" - but I clarified that a more recent video confirmed it's 100% gone now.

Dr. Drew's Loud Tinnitus Resolved Immediately After Taking Fluvoxamine

@Uklawyer, from what I remember it was just Fluvoxamine and some long-COVID-19 treatment (supplements, monoclonal antibodies, etc)

@Jon R., just to update: on a more recent podcast appearance with Andrew Santino, Dr. Drew confirmed he fixed his tinnitus and that it's in the past.

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

@Freerunner, yep. Still not as low as it was pre-accident, but way lower than the day of. Working on my posture, TMJ issues, and neck stability has helped a lot. Never knew it was a problem until this happened to me and I noticed I've been tight for years.

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

I'm doing a lot better. I can listen to music in speakers at medium volume. Voices don't hurt anymore, others or my own. I'm not back to DJing and I'm not sure if I'll be able to for a while, but it's definitely a goal (with extreme hearing protection, of course). TMJ massage, self percussive...

Otonomy OTO-6XX — Hair Cell Regeneration

@patorjk, although it would be great for Otonomy to treat most hearing loss, they really only need to demonstrate consistent reproducible results of hearing regeneration in a subset of hearing loss sufferers to be successful. If they can greatly improve hearing in people with hair cell...

Are Hyperacusis and Trigeminal Neuralgia Connected?

@Taw, weddings can get pretty loud where I'm from. The dance floor can get as loud as a nightclub! Plus I'm a musician/DJ so I usually wear earplugs and I got tinnitus from loud events. My hyperacusis is less than a month old.

Are Hyperacusis and Trigeminal Neuralgia Connected?

I know this thread is old, but I just wanted to say that I think you're onto something here. I had trigeminal neuralgia and "numb chin syndrome" in March of this year and it required a CT and MRI scan to check for a brain tumor (luckily nothing). Then in August I forgot my earplugs at a wedding...

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

Hey Brian, thanks so much for your well wishes. Yeah I did a mobile hearing test and I'm able to hear all the sounds I used to, so hopefully that bodes well. I mean, obviously I damaged my hearing being exposed to loud noises, but I can still have a quiet conversation with my girlfriend with...

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

Hi Vincent! Firstly thank you for the very thorough reply. I will be sure to remain cautious at the ENT as to not cause any unwanted damage. I fully agree that everybody needs to make their own care plan that makes the most sense to them, and that's been my MO since the past weekend trying to...

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

That's amazing news, thank you so much! I'm sorry that you had to go through that, and still are to a lesser degree. I firmly believe that every music venue should be required by law to provide earplugs because I probably damaged my ears so much as a teen due to straight up hubris and ignorance...

Tinnitus for 4 Years and (Life Disrupting) Hyperacusis for One Week — A Musician and DJ

Hi everyone! I'm a 30-year-old musician and DJ with an occasional dumb habit of losing his earplugs, and as a result I developed mild tinnitus a few years back. It was pretty much the same volume (manageable, only noticeable at night) until last weekend when I DJed my first gig since COVID-19...
