Noise-Cancelling Headphones for Constant Industrial Noise?

I am considering buying the new Bose QuietComfort 25 but then the oddest thing struck me. Since the microphones pick up external sound and produce a sound to counter this won't this increase the actual decibel level even though you cant hear it? I know this sounds silly but I just cant wrap my...

    Post Concussion Tinnitus?

My very first meeting with tinnitus was after head-trauma when I was 13 years old. I fell off my bicycle face first into the pavement, and suffered an minor fraction on my skull. That tinnitus was quite mild and got even milder over time until it completely went away. I believe it has little or...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

The only minor drawback is that your ears are sealed shut for a good ten minutes or so. I have done it twice and the first time was really stressful since it was so short after the onset of my tinnitus, The second time was years after my habituation so I wasn't bothered by it.

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

I would suggest getting siliconeearplugs molded for you with interchangeable filters. They are quite expensive but can be used again and again. I have those and they work for me in moderately loud environments such as restaurants and subwaystations. You can even hook up your Ipod and they work...

    Anti-Anxiety Medication?

Thank you Billie. I used anti axiety meds for a few weeks when I first got T but managed to deal with it and habituate without AD back then. I am afraid of becoming dependant on anything and I'm afraid of making my T worse by taking prescription drugs. I have som Sobril on my Kitchen counter...

    Loud places to avoid...

Hopefully mine will settle down and if/when it does I will come back and share the news and not just drop out like most people who gets better do. But I think it's natural for people to just move on and stop thinking about T once they habituate.

    Loud places to avoid...

I have been to both wedding receptions and loud restaurants without any problems, and I think my recent spike is as much due to anxiety as the loud noises I have been exposed to lately. I think our worst enemy is our fear and anxiety and that this is what spins us out of Balance. Hopefully I...

    Anti-Anxiety Medication?

You have tried both anti-anxiety and anti depressant but not using anything now? I consider trying out anti depressants now since i struggle with thoughts on not wanting to live with this. My fear is that I will become dependant and will have to take them for the rest of my life. I was...

    Anti-Anxiety Medication?

I will talk to my doctor about anti depressants since my main problem now isn't so much the anxiety as the feeling of despair. I just feel like I'll never find any kind of happiness ever in my life again.

Mine are siliconebased and molded for my ears. Lowers 20 or 25db (dont remember exactly) and they have worked fine for me for several years.

    Anti-Anxiety Medication?

I have been prescribed anti-anxiety meds and contemplates trying them out since I have alot of anxiety and panic attacks. Anybody out there who has had any trouble with these kinds of meds? Really afraid that I'll make it worse although I cant see how much louder this can get right now.

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

I got my life back more than 100% the first time although there are things I stopped doing like going to loud concerts and stuff but I have never really missed that so it wasn't a problem. I rarely paid attention to my tinnitus in the last 4 or 5 years so it's a big contrast to how I'm feeling...

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

You might be right since I am panicking. But the sound was loud and piercing like cricket in my ear and when I think about it I get an anxiety attack. This sucks.

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

The more I think about it the more my ears hurt and I feel like my T has sort of changed. I just want it to go back to the time where I didnt pay it any attention. Its like trying not to think about bicycle...

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

But this was at a really high frequency. Wouldnt that be worse than the same volume at a lower frequency? I can listen to that volume on a lower frequency without experiencing any discomfort.

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

I couldn't really tell if it was worse right away, but it was painful but not so much that I really thought I had caused damage at the time. But I listened to it again at a lower volume and then I started thinking about it and how loud it must have and now my ears hurt and my T is rampant.

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

I dont remember what frequency, as I dont have my audiogram here. But it is in the higher ranges and thats why I didn't hear the sound until I really cranked it up. It came in a pulse so I turned it higher than i would have needed to and it gave me quite the shock. I didnt get any soreness or...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

I have hearing loss but I dont remember how much, but its not that much since I dont really need to wear aids. Its only in the higher frequenzies so i makes my hearing just a tad bit muffled. Im rarely bothered by it but I do prefer subtitles as I miss out on things if I dont have them on. My...

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

It's kinda hard to say since its really loud now anyway. And my ears have been sore for a while and I have kind of a muffled hearing due to my hearing loss... I might be all in my head... I don't know. Im so stressed out.

Really high & then really low

Since you still are in the early stages I would concider this positive. You might end up with a really low tinnitus that you ever hardly hear.

    High-frequency beeeep in headphones :-(

I have just posted about my worries due to a karaoke event and while searching the internet for masking sounds I came over a site with several different frequenzies. I tried the out with good quality headphones on very low volume until i came to one I could not hear. I turned the volume up quite...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

Hope you are right Jay cause I haven't been this stressed out since I got T in the first place. I can't really have pets where I live and they made an exeption for me since I already had a cat. I might be allowed if I file an application, but I'm not sure I'm ready. He was my baby and I miss...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

Telis: I got anti-anxiety meds (something called Alopam) when I first got hit with this. And that really helped me out and I believe that was how I got out of the tunnel the first time. I habituated quite fast after that and my T got pushed into the background. Hopefully this will happen for...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

Thank you for you reply jimH :-) I do sleep but when I wake my anxiety goes through the roof and I eat since I know I must but way to little. Its good to hear that your T felt lower as you anxiety faded. I hope this happens for me to. I got a reaction in 2012 from an exposure to a vuvuzela but...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. I have read that we should rehabituate faster this time, but I am afraid to believe it and since the last months have been tough for me I have fallen into a severe depression. It might be due to my anxiety but I cant seem to shake it. I also tried...

Has Anyone Experienced Serious Setbacks and Then Rehabituated?

This is my first post here. I am struggling to cope and went online looking for some reassurance. I have had tinnitus for several years and got to the point of total habituation. I rarely got bothered by my tinnitus and I was living a happy full life. Last Friday I went to a karaoke Place...
